  1. The Phillies have acquired Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco for prospects Jason Knapp, Carlos Carrasco, Jason Donald and Lou Marson. This has to make the Phils the favorite in the NL.
  2. Yeah he was drafted by Philly. I'm not exactly sure when he's going to play in the NHL, possibly this upcoming season. I heard some rumors he didn't want to sign with Philly, he wanted to sign with the Rangers. I don't know details or if it's even true. Bobby Ryan of the Ducks went 2nd overall in the 2005 draft. He's from Cherry Hill. T. J. Brennan was the Sabres 2nd round pick (31st overall) in the 2007 draft. He's from Willingboro, NJ. A few kids I know are going to play in the USHL and the OPJHL, which are some of the best Tier II junior leagues and send alot of kids to Division 1 schools (For people who don't know, the majority of D1 Hockey players come in as like 20, 21 year old freshman after playing a few years of Tier II Junior hockey. The top Junior leagues are the Tier I leagues, OHL and QMJHL. Those players get paid to play so they can't play NCAA hockey so players in those leagues go right to the NHL). It's really awesome to see local kids getting recogintion and I think the increase in US born players great for the league.
  3. A few kids I played against last year got drafted. Today, Alex Velischek got drafted by Pittsburgh and Eric Knodel got drafted by Toronto. Velischek played for Delbarton Prep and the NJ Colonials 18U AAA. I'm not sure where Knodel went to high school but he played for the Philadelphia Junior Flyers 18U AAA. Yesterday, one of the Ducks first round picks, Kyle Palmieri (26th overall) is a NJ kid. He went to St. Peters Prep and played for the USA Hockey National Team Developmental Program. It's cool to see kids you played against getting drafted into the NHL and it proves that New Jersey youth hockey can compete with youth hockey in the entire country.
  4. I don't think this was a smart trade. They're a young team with a bright future. I feel like you trade a 19 year old and 2 first rounders when you have an older team and/or a team with a lot of free agents trying to make a one year cup run. Although Sbisa didn't have a great year, he was only 18 and still has a bright future. Anything short of a cup win in the next 3 years and this will go down as an awful trade. The Flyers have a bad trade record. They traded Pitkanen for Jason Smith and Lupul. They traded Patrick Sharp for Matt Ellison. Eric Lindros for Peter Forsberg, Steve Duschene, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Philadelphia's 1993 first round draft choice (Jocelyn Thibeault), Philadelphia's 1994 first round draft choice (Nolan Baumgartner), and $15,000,000 (keep in mind how much money that was in 1993, equivalent to $40 million now.)
  5. What does Wal-Mart and Michael Jackson's house have in common? Boys shorts half off. Due to the fact that Michael Jackson is 99% plastic, he will be melted down into lego blocks so little boys can play with him for a change.
  6. hahaha that episode was on tv last night
  7. The Devils will never play in the Winter Classic. Apparently the NHL hasn't gotten the memo that the Devils don't play the trap anymore.
  8. that's putting the pu$$y on a pedestal
  9. Ehh, I hated seeing Crosby win the cup. I would have rather seen Hossa win it than Crosby for sure. I used to not be a Crosby hater cause I thought he would be good for hockey. Yes I fell into the hype. I'm sorry. But now I can't stand Crosby. I hate how much everyone jerks him off. I'm sick and tired of seeing Pittsburgh on TV every sunday on NBC. F**k Crosby. There is plenty of other young talent if the NHL would take a chance to look around. I don't care that Hossa didn't sign with Pitt cause he was only there for half a season. I think what Kayria did after the '03 season was pretty messed up though. He was the face of the franchise but he left for Colorado cause he thought he could win a Cup there.
  10. Rumors are that because of cap problems the Flyers are looking to trade Simon Gagne. I think Gagne could be a great pickup. He's a great defensive forward, he can kill penalties, solid goal scorer, he's great on the powerplay. I would be interested in a trade for him, I just doubt the Flyers would trade him to a divisional opponent if at all.
  11. Now: Parise - Datsyuk - Ovechkin Green - Lindstrom Broduer Future: Parise - Mike Richards - Ovechkin Green - Weber Varlamov? (Maybe a little too early to tell but he seems like a gamer)
  12. So I'm guessing you're not too fond of Philadelphia? I saw Hatcher at my gym the other day. What a lanky s.o.b. I could take him.
  13. I'm pretty suprised about how many soccer players are so hated. I could only name about 3 soccer players to be honest.
  14. Wow I finally did it. I started a good topic. Mission Accomplished, onto the next forum.
  15. Yeah alot of ppl hate Joe Buck. I don't get it to be honest. But thank you. You were absolutely right. Hugh Douglas, broadcaster and former Eagle, got in a fight with TO. Same kind of idea. TO = cocky, arrogant, douchebag. Reyes = cocky, arrogant, douchebag
  16. You say Rollins backed it up, so what is the relevance in your argument? It would only have made sense if he said it if they had won the WS the year before? Actually he made the comment because all the reporters thought the Mets were going to win the division again. He said the Phillies were going to win it. That's not arrogance, it's confidence. And he backed it up with an MVP season and a division title. And you completely contradict yourself by saying Beltran and K-Rod said it you idiot. And don't try to say he put his arm up ONE time. Get real man. Come on. And maybe I will cry a river... cry a river right into my 2007 Division Champs shirt? Or maybe my 2008 Division champs hat? Or maybe my NLCS game 2 rally towel? Or maybe I'll just cry a river into my World Series Champs shirts, hat and World Series rally towels?
  17. Actually Rollins never did any of that until his MVP season. Please Know what you're talking about before you try to make an argument. When him and Delgado do their little shows outside the dugout after every HR or run scored yeah the other team should care. Jogs around the bases my ass. He has to point his finger and dance around. Please he's a disgrace to the league. I would think blowing the division in September 2 years in a row would humble a team. No. I would think watching your rivals win the World Series would humble a team. Guess Not. Reyes can admire a HR when he hits one in October.
  18. Reyes just has that cocky arrogant swagger. The way he pimps his home runs. The dances he does in the dugout. The way he wears his hat. The way he walks around the field. I know Jimmy Rollins does the same things, but Rollins has an MVP and a World Series ring. Reyes hasn't done sh!t to earn the right to have that swagger.
  19. I can understand hating Rollins. He is a cocky S.O.B. But Howard? I don't see that.
  20. Top 10 Most Hated Professional Athletes, or Front Office people/Sportscasters
  21. They were talking about this on the radio today (Phillies are the only team playing around here). I really enjoyed it. Heres my list... 1. Jose Reyes: Cocky, arrogant...and the fact hes good makes me hate him more. 2. Tony Romo: Everyone talks about how great he is, but he is so overated. Plus he banged Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson. And that damn smile 3. Scott Gomez: Greedy bastard. 4. Sean Avery: I'm not going to even bother with a reason. He's not worth it. 5. Manny: Same reasons as Jose Reyes. Atleast he's funny though. And hasn't been caught taking steroids. Oh wait. Well atleast he took a nice manly steroid. 6. Michael Vick: So much RUNNING (not throwing) talent gone to waste. He is a douchebag to the fans and not to mention a Dog murderer. 7. Jerry Jones: Ugh. I hate the cowboys. I HATE the cowboys. 8. Michael Wilboun/Tony Kornhaiser: I hate PTI with a burning passion. Theses douchebags no nothing about hockey, nothing about sports for that matter, but jerk off Crosby and Ovechkin so much. 9. Barry Bonds: It's not so much the fact he took steroids, but the fact he is such an @$$. 10. Henrik Lundqvist: If I hear one more Ranger fan talk about how "King Henrik" is "the best goalie in the NHL" I am going to throw up. He is terrible. He is awful. So overated. Dishonorable Mention: Eric Staal: He is very good, but god damn he is a Devil killer. Crosby: He's not on the list because hate him or not, he is a great player and has brought alot of new fans to hockey.
  22. Man I remember watching that game when he came be to Joe Louis Arena. What a tear jerker. Great to see him making such awesome progress.

    Doc

I was on youtube last night watching some Devils clips (I felt I needed a solid cry), and I got to thinking what the best Doc Emrick calls/sayings are. I don't get the Devils on TV so I usually only hear Doc on NBC, but my favorite saying is "OHH AND HIS STICK BETRAYS (or sometimes FAILS) HIM!" On a Martin Broduer save: "OHHH HE DID THE FERRIS WHEEL!"... I love that one more because they used to play it when you walked into Continental.
