  1. Has anyone taken a look at Blake Coleman's twitter recently? The kid really seems gung-ho about being a part of the organization. It's good to see. http://twitter.com/#!/bcoles25
  2. I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I just want to reiterate how monumentally stupid it was for Booker to announce out of spite that they were reducing the city's contribution to security. Yeah, they actually had more cops than usual and this could have happened regardless, but it just doesn't make sense to say a thing like that. http://www.northjersey.com/news/crime_courts/Pack_of_teens_rob_beat_5_after_concert_at_Prudential_Center.html
  3. It's just a joke. I've lived in Newark and the area by the arena is not really one of the "don't walk there" places. The whole idea of publicly announcing that you are reducing the police presence at a specific location for a specific event is pretty reckless though.
  4. I've told my family that if the reduced police presence should result in me getting shot, I want them to sue the city and give the money to the Devils to sign Parise.
  5. It's so obvious: Wanted Dead or Alive
  6. I know the Ranger rumors are garbage and I'm really not trying to give it legs. However, considering that Kovy's status hasn't really reverted to UFA, would attempts to contact Kovy by NY or any other team during this time constitute tampering of some sort? I wonder if anyone could attempt to throw a wrench in the works without any repercussions.
  7. I'm stuck at school so I'm forced to watch the game on the T.V. However, my sister (always the lucky one) gets to go to the game with my cousin. The two of them are walking to their seats from the concourse and who should my sister spot but Lou Lams. She excitedly nudges my cousin and points out Lou who, at that exact moment, steps into a puddle of water on the concourse. As you can guess from the title, Lou takes a spill and lands on his ass. I guess the title of savior of the Devils must go to Marty. P.S. I assume that Lou Lamoriello is okay because my sister said that he immediately shuffled off. (probably to chew someone out for not taking care of the water) Of course, if he is hurt we will probably only hear it described as some vague injury to throw off the other teams' GMs.
  8. Its fun to partake in the hijacking of a thread. I should have started posting sooner.
  9. We should start a letter writing campaign to get Crasher signed up for the job! Or the Devils could make a fan contest out of the back-up job!!!
  10. I did the same thing. I'm such a nerd.
  11. Is the list above wrong? Nobody has corrected Fiesty except for Madden's salary. It is pointless anyway because it isn't fair to assume all RFAs will sign their contracts.
  12. Including 1.1M for McGillis: $42,102,000 if Madden really does only count for 2.4M: $40,602,000 Paying too much for Malakov hurt. (to give some fodder to the Nieds-haters)
  13. Moving White now might make a lot of sense. There could be someone out there who underestimates how much Nieds made him look better. Who knows how he'll be without Nieds covering for him.
  14. Having to add a pick makes me smile a bit. In a time when some people are worried about losing players for nothing, Philly has to add a pick to dump JR. The new rules really have created a new game within the game. I think someone already mentioned how JR is effectively a negative value because of his salary and Philly has to pay to get him out. By the way, when teams speak of future considerations is it laid out in contract what form those future considerations might take? Or is it more or less a handshake agreement between clubs? If future considerations never really amount to much, JR really could have been traded for the proverbial "bag of pucks."
  15. I have a new theory: Lou knew for certain that Scotty was going to end up with Anaheim. He makes the max offer to ease the blow for the Devils fans. Think about it. Would LL of all people be the first to set the precedent of signing a free agent to a max contract? It is all a part of the plan. I guess that I've moved on to the bargaining stage.
  16. Sometimes having access to up-to-date information sucks. I'm going to be sullen all day. I'm surprised that I'm not taking this better. I've been preparing myself for this for a long time.
  17. I've always felt that Holik's toxicity in the locker room contributed to Robinson's demise the first time he was coach. I never could understand how a team so united the year before could be so divided in one year. I hope for Larry's sake, we stay away from that sellout. Larry just doesn't have the personality to keep bigmouth in line or at least harmless. Burns could.
  18. Actually, in the "new" NHL, that defense doesn't really look that bad to me. It obviously would be a big downgrade from the defensive corps of past. (Losing Neids alone would do that.) But who is going to be able to hold together anything like that now. But maybe i'm over-valuing those players because of personal biases. Of course this is assuming we get Raffy and Stevens back.
  19. Think there is a possible deal to be worked out using the rights to Gionta for the rights to Satan? It would be a win-win situation for PR for both teams. Heck, we played that one game in Rochester against Buffalo just because the new Sabres owner wanted to make fans in Gionta's hometown happy. Obviously, we would have to kick in a little more. However, we do have two negotiation advantages. (1) There is definitely a portion of Buffalo's fanbase that would love Gionta; (2) Going public with shopping a player never helps his value. (especially one who wants out, like Satan)
  20. No offense taken here. sammyk and DM are correct. I have been following this site religiously for a longtime. (almost eerily stalker-like or voyeurish) I've got stacks of notes on every poster who has come and gone. j/k. I mostly read for the news, rumors, and of course the amusing banter. Thanks though Crasher.
  21. I am a LONG time lurker who is finally posting. Apparently, the return of hockey from the lockout has made me giddy. I've been an secret observer of this community since redruM created his old board to escape the NJ.com mess. You guys are a great crowd and I thought I'd finally getting around to introducing myself. I only seriously started following the Devils in '94 which could make me a bandwagon fan since the team has been competitive every year since. A decade of contention is an amazing thing and a true testiment to LL's greatness. Budget dictates that I only attend a few games a year, but I never miss a game on tv. The parking lot celebrations after '00 and '03 are memories that I cherish. I am really excited that hockey is back and hopefully I'll stick to my resolution to get more involved here. P.S. I'm surprised to see the login I made still existed.
