    Woo Hoo

Defensively, this team has been incredible, and you know that can't be fun to play against. Even guys like Gomez, who aren't well known for playing well defensively, are making smart decisions with the puck. Pepperkorn, that call on Niedermayer was BS. He cleared the crease with a two-hand shove, not a cross check. Here's one concern: 3-for-50 on the power play = open season on the Devils skill players We can't have that.
  2. Even though I was disappointed with the snarl factor in this game, I give thumbs up to Friesen for throwing his weight around in the third period a little bit. I didn't think he had it in him!
  3. SBT, I like your thinking!
  4. I'm just not feelin' the love.....or the hate, sbt. LOL!
  5. It looks that way, insanity gallops. It was exciting that the Devs won, but I wanted some more emotion, some more juice. I miss the Flyer rivalry. It's almost like there's no one to hate anymore.
  6. Pepperkorn, I am happy too. Just not juiced. You know who we miss for these Flyer games? Randy McKay. Check that. It's Lindros we miss the most for the rivalry.
  7. I'd like to echo what ^7^ said. The Devil-Flyer rivalry sucks now. There is no edge to it. I expected a little more rock 'em sock 'em hockey, as Don Cherry would say. This had all the zip of a Devil-Panther game circa 1996. But it's nice we won.
  8. Tevyfan, you raised my eyebrows with that post! What's great about trades is that you get a clean slate, I'm hoping Friesen makes the most of it. I hope you're wrong. Good post, though.
  9. What about this Teemu Laine guy? Anyone hear about him?
  10. Trading Niedermayer.......yeah, I can see the rationale, but I'm not comfortable with the idea anyway. I'd like him to stick around.
  11. I am convinced that the Devils sales team is not as creative as it could be, but cutting the salespeople some slack, this arena doesn't exactly sell itself, if you know what I mean.
  12. Yeah, now that you bring it up, I remember McKenzie getting a shift on two on the PP. Thanks for the memories! LMAO!
  13. You guys gotta admit, Devils hockey is hockey only a Devil fan could love. Not every night do they play games that are hard to watch (the Lightning game was an exception) but we aren't wowin' 'em very often offensively. I do appreciate that we're winning though.
  14. I gotta say, '7', if I wasn't a Devil fan, I'd be watching Sopranos re-runs during the week. Devils and caffeine, perfect together.
  15. How about Fischler the other night, suggesting to Burns that the Devils play McKenzie on the power play. It's not the first time, he suggested the same thing to Larry Robinson. I still love that cranky old geezer, he's good for laughs pre-game and in between periods.
  16. I gotta say, even though I love this team, my overall experience at CAA is average at best, if we're talking about value for the dollar.

    Baumann

Yeah, I'm sure they'll buy me a beer, Mr. Quotes! LMAO!
  18. M, it's a hot-button topic. You can't not write about it. Don't you think the Devils should be "picked on" for poor attendance?

    Baumann

The problem with you boys in 217 is you don't pick your spots. You chant "Rangers suck" all night long, and you become as boring and predictable as the Devil power kill.....I mean, power play.

    Baumann

Tri, we may have gotten the best of the Rangers the past five years, but the emotion at Devil-Ranger games is alive and well and so is the rivalry. When tickets go on sale, it's the first games I go after, at the Garden and CAA. Five games isn't enough. I want six or seven games against the Atlantic Division and less games against the rest of the East. I have been disappointed in the Devil-Flyer rivalry. The emotion isn't there anymore, I think Lindros took it with him.
  21. Chort, in the Devils I see a team with players not afraid to stick their noses in places where they can get creamed. They're working hard and playing tough, so I disagree with your assessment that they're not willing. They do miss some big bodies though, I agree with you there. The problem with the power play is not creating traffic, it's the inability to put two or three passes together and get a good shot.

    Baumann

Baumann doesn't bug me either, and I go to about 6 or 7 regfular season games. I sit in the section right next to him.
  23. There are some markets where you have to lower ticket prices to stimulate demand. New Jersey is one of them. I might go to a game on a whim if it was $20, not $40. Case closed. I know you can get a great deal from people selling tickets outside the arena, but usually I don't want to bother with that.
