Yeah, Shane Doan is good. The point is that he's gonna cost NJ, or any other team, good players.
Say what you want about Valeri Kamensky, but that move was well worth the risk because there was no risk. It didn't work out, so what, the Devils gave up very, very little.
I don't even recall what the Devils gave up for Shawn Chambers and Neal Broten, but it wasn't much. Anyway, the point is that sometimes the small trade can pay off.
How about this idea: Trading for Dave Andreychuk to help our power play? I KNOW that won't cost much.
