2024 Offseason Thread - It’s FINALLY here

This is what I was talking about when Trouba hit Kadri. Does the NHL want hits like it’s 1999 or a skill game? Just because the player avoided the hit, it doesn’t mean that players should get away with it. That deserves a penalty and a fine/suspension. Next player may not be so lucky. However, it will take someone like McDavid taking a hit like that with an injury.

I think, going into the season, there wasn’t much expected of Palat and he did not disappoint there.

That’s not just on Green. Where was Fritz? Both Meier and Hughes were injured. They should have been shutdown and brought up players to show what they can do. The entire organization ran like sh!t all season long, from the top down. -
Zacha is doing well in Boston and the fans like him. I think the organization failed Zacha and Sharongovich. I do believe they are failing to develop Holtz too.

Too bad Sullivan isn’t available. I think he would be the bast fit. -

Apparently, he didn’t watch many Canucks games when he was coach either. -

I would go nuts if that ever happened, unless, the head coach can go out there and get 40g. Then, maybe. -

I feel better already! -
Maybe they trade Vasilevskiy for picks/prospects and begin a rebuild? I can’t believe he’s younger than Ullmark.

I think the best series will be Leafs/Bruins with Bruins losing 3 straight and another first round exit after having a 3-1 series lead. I hate Bruins fans and would love it!

https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/pittsburgh-penguins/latest-news/pittsburgh-penguins-coach-considering-joining-new-jersey-devils i think Sullivan could be a good fit. His system would work with the Devils young and fast core. He also believes in excellent conditioning. -

Brady Tkachuk would be awesome! Not only could bring the elbow grease, but some might rub off on to the rest of team. -

That is what I’m saying and how much of it could it have been Brunette? -

I did, but it was my cynicism. Unless they get the right coach the Devils will continue to struggle developing players. I know that players like Luke and Simon can still play well, just like Jack, Nico, Bratt and Timo, because they are that good. However, I think the Devils struggle to get the most out of their players unless they are a top three pick, with the exception of Bratt. -

I was being cynical towards the organization’s ability to develop players to their full potential. Fitz’s comments at the end of the season were eye opening, especially the one about the players that play hockey vs hockey players. The sole purpose of Ruff getting the job was his ability to develop players and I think that it was a major failure. -

Luke and Simon will be fine. Even if things don’t workout for them as Devils, they will get traded and have solid careers elsewhere, like Zacha and Sharongovich. -

"First and foremost, they have to be passionate. They need to love the game," he said. "They need to come every single day, punch the clock and go to work, and actually enjoy it. Those are the players that are willing to block shots. Players that are comfortable with confrontation, who understand that physicality is part of the game." No kidding Fitz. Fitzgerald did not hold back when addressing what he saw from his players when it came to their conditioning and what practice habits needed to improve. "When we go to work, we work. I ask you for an hour a day," Fitzgerald said of practices. "You should be able to handle a very crisp skate in March after four (games) in five (days). It's a mindset. That's where I'd like to get to. I want the game to be easy for our players. The only way to do that is to get into the best possible shape we can be." Is that why you hired a players coach and gave him an extension before firing him. Sorry if I posted in the wrong thread and if all this was discussed. I took a couple of days off with anything having to do with Devils hockey. -

Let’s go Oilers! I want Rico to win one.

Greece’s National Soccer team makes it to the round of 16 for the first time in the World Cup. They lost. The coach was fired and left behind in Brazil. That is how swift the coaching staff needs to be fired. -

I’m so happy this season is coming to an end. Fitz has a lot of work this offseason. He need a coach, a goalie, proper linemates for Hughes and D depth. -
let’s go Devils

All good points.
