Colorado Rockies 1976
Looks like they’re gonna lose this one…oh well, happily would’ve taken two out of three going in. Mets pitchers have gotta stop walking so many guys…they’ve gotten away with it quite a bit, but eventually that’s going to hurt them. Already did today with Ohtani. Colorado Rockies 1976
This feels like a big-time blowout in the making…at least if the Mets get killed, it’s only one loss in the end.
NJDevs4978
Yeah good lineup that was due to hit + pitcher that's basically been bad so far = not a good day at the office

Might as well take some guys out of the lineup and give them a little rest. If Alonso stays in the game, watch him hit a completely meaningless HR or two. Seems about right. Colorado Rockies 1976
Oh well, still have a shot at a .500 trip, which was all I was asking going in. The Met pitchers have to stop with the deep counts and walks…they’re averaging 4.6 walks per 9 IP, which is flat-out unacceptable. And it’s really starting to bite them right in the ass. It would be nice if Nimmo and Lindor would start to look like…well, themselves. I know Lindor has been a bit better lately but hardly great (and is now hitless in his last two games). Hope the Mets can avoid a loss today. They did manage 9 hits yesterday, but all of a sudden the runs have just stopped coming…outscored 20-3 in their last three games. Real bummer after winning the first two games in LA.
NJDevs4978
Yeah the offense really needs to get going...losing Alvarez hurts, so it'd be nice to see JD this weekend - maybe lol. With our luck he'll need three more weeks to actually start hitting ML pitching.

The Mets have been held to 3 runs or less in 12 of their games...they've gone 5-7 in such games, which probably is better than we should expect. But only scoring 3 or less about half the time...the league average for RPG is 4.37. Mets are actually above average in RPG for now (4.57), but they need to become steadier. Too much all-or-nothing, and some guys really need to pick it up with the bat. And yeah anytime JD.

It looks like McNeil’s starting to hit—.327/.407/.423 in his last 15 games—but he’s much like DJ LeMahieu in that while he’ll put the ball in play, he’s not someone who can win a game by himself or carry a team for stretches. He's put up a .378 BABIP, which suggests some regression is coming. Problem with McNeil now is that he needs to hit well over .300 to be of much use...he doesn't drive in runs and he doesn't hit with much power. The Mets NEED him to be close to what he's done over the last 15 games...that can't just be a temporary burst.
NJDevs4978
Blake Snell, who I was convinced was gonna find his groove against us got shut down and put on IL after an 0-3 and 11+ ERA start. Dude really should have just taken whatever it was the Yankees offered him this offseason rather than waiting for less, and then compromising his season.

It must be maddening to try to shop for a pitcher these days. These fvcking guys cannot stay healthy. But pitch counts and by the book and rules...they've really helped 🙄

Speaking of inadequate pitching geez Manaea, a 6-0 lead and you can’t even get through five with 100 pitches?! Colorado Rockies 1976
Re: Manaea, yet another Met pitcher who throws way too many balls. Why is it such a struggle for these guys to throw fvcking strikes?! Big day for Lindor. Hope he’s truly past the crappy start. Because Nimmo is still in a funk and Alonso’s numbers look a lot better than they feel. 3-3 road trip, and that’s all I was really asking for. Hopefully they can put together a good homestand. This is why I’m glad the Yankees didn’t get into a bidding war for Snell’s services or make a last-ditch effort to keep him out of San Francisco. They made an offer that they thought was fair, and when he didn’t take it, they moved on.
ButlerBulldog
MLB Bringing Back Players Weekend I’m really disappointed baseball decided to do this, as I’ve grown tired of gimmicks intended to attract a specific audience. If they want to make baseball more appealing to children, they can start by making games more affordable for families.
NJDevs4978
Manfred just tries to throw the players bones that don't cost them anything to keep up the pretense of getting along with the union. I think players' weekend is lame but so is a lot of the MLB 'promotions' and their own uniform changes.
Colorado Rockies 1976
So Christian Scott is having the oddest kind of season at AAA...he's pitched 20.2 IP so far and allowed just 11 hits and 4 walks. And he's K'd 34. BUT, somehow he's allowed 6 HR.
NJDevs4978
Jesus christ, off to a flying start in another homestand lol...this team's almost as bad as the Devils now with the home woes Mets are looking more like a .500 team by the day, at least they were more or less expected to be one unlike the Devils. Yeah .500ish team for sure. But they clearly weren’t trying this season anyway, with the dumpster dive approach. And I’ve said it plenty, but you don’t build around Lindor and Alonso if you’re serious about contending. Both are too flawed to be consistently relied upon. They have their occasional big days (like Lindor did against the Giants) but too much famine.
