LOTCB
Throw the season and you can almost GUARANTEE their ping pong balls will have more weight...maybe they will be smoking...or a different color..or have a magnetic device in them...or the auditors who 'oversee' that things are done fairly are locked up in a closet....ANYTHING to make sure the 2009 lottery is rigged for the 'center of the Hockey universe' to land phenom John Tavares. Let $undin go? Tucker? McCabe? Wellwood? Whats next, acquire Andrew Peters to play on the top line??? Cliff Fletcher, spare us the theatrics... I figured out the little plan between you and Dr. Evil Bettman...

Jdub
Look how it worked for the penguins.. even tho they didn't rig it... Get ur superstar and build around him... Smart way to do it.. Load up on draft picks.. Trade everyone or buy them out. First Overall picks... 2002 Rick Nash.. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=55239 2003 Marc-Andre Fleury 2004 Alexander Ovechkin.. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=63735 2005 Sidney Crosby.. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdispla...pid%5B%5D=73288 2006 Erik Johnson.. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=95359 2007 Patrick Kane.. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=96554 2008 Steve Stamkos.. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=96607 So all of them made the nhl their first year... 5 have been franchise changing (Nash, Fleury,Crosby,Kane, Ovechkin) Tavares has already been in the OHL for 3 or 4 years now and his going for an extra, in a talented defensman OHL.. His numbers are already better than Nash, Stamkos . Good move by toronto if thats what they are doing Edited June 25, 2008 by Jdub
Triumph
if the league likes favoring the leafs, it has a weird way of showing it. and it's not like fletcher is buying out antropov and ponikarovsky. he's buying out terrible players who are barely better than waiver filler. LOTCB
http://insider.espn.go.com/nhl/features/rumorsFletcher said they will not be buying out McCabe All the more reason to be suspicious....McCabe is good for allowing 70+ goals more then he scores... Here's what I want to see - McCabe strap on the pads and play goal. Now, that would be interesting. And, right in line with the theme here. Elias26
Evey team should do the same. This year will be a race to the bottom.
Jdub
That would be hysterical if every team tried their hardest to lose... Numbers would go down.. haha that means salary numbers should go down aswell.. and everyone will wind up around .500 That would still be pretty funny. Devs4LIFE
It would be like that episode of South Park.
brodeurrocks
I have a couple of thoughts here. I agree with Tri that the Leafs are not exactly buying out there top players with the above mentioned. Secondy, they are the Leafs. Don't give them that much credit.
