sheeps
Hey, it's just my belief not to stereotype against a group of people. Call me a typical lib for that as well, doesn't faze me. In my experience every time I have held a stereotype it has been proven wrong. I used to stereotype Flyers fans (and still do to an extent which I'm working at) until I met a friend at college named Steve. He is the absolute best, most intelligent hockey fan I know, a Flyers fan. We could go to the rowdiest Flyers-Devils game, sit next to each other, and not once get in a fight. It's great. I lost faith in most stereotypes when I went away for school. I never knew how many stereotypes Jersey had. It's like I said, if you told somebody you were from Jersey, they'd associate you with Camaros, big hair, power plants or farmland, ghettos or suburbia, and on and on and on. But I know these stereotypes aren't true. People that are from Jersey or have any real experience with Jersey know these stereotypes aren't true. I just don't buy stereotypes, about countries, peoples, races, religions, sports fans, anything. I've been proven wrong too many times. I'm sure if I were to believe another that I'd eventually be proven wrong again. I guess I'm the a-hole for believing that? Oh well. --- Haven't seen that one, PK, but I forgot some others: La cage aux folles (I thought it was overrated, quite frankly, and not that funny), L'homme du train (The Man on the Train... really amazing newish release, to the US at least, about an aging bank robber and a retired school teacher that become friends and semi-switch places, both wishing they had experienced more in life), oooh I'm blanking on more. Moustic did you see L'homme du train?

Swede
Despite many people talking about their good experiences with France, he instantly jumps and calls it "as ungrateful a nation as you can get."Ignore the majority, emphasize the minority. Jimmy Leeds
What a load of crap!!! you did not enter the war to save France... you entered because the Japs bombed my hometown!! (Pearl Harbour)And isn't there a small tiny little difference between being gratefu (which I'm sure they are) and agreeing on everything that USA does? Wow....a history lesson. Thanks for clearing why the U.S. entered WW2, even though you are wrong. We didn't enter the European Theater because of Pearl Harbor. Germany and Italy declared war on us on Dec. 11, '41. France has long been ungrateful, the Iraq situation has just adds to the list. You refer to "you" twice, yet you say your hometown is Pearl Harbor.....I assume you are just visiting. Swede
You refer to "you" twice, yet you say your hometown is Pearl Harbor.....I assume you are just visiting. Yep. That's right. I'm just staying for a couple of years to get my masters. (in Honolulu, but close enough) Hmm... maybe hometown is the wrong word when I only will live there for 4 years... ... ... ... Why am I answering this... this was not the point of my post...oh well.
Jimmy Leeds
How do you like Honolulu? Never been there. I hear it's rather expensive.
sheeps
My dad, who visited France during Vietnam and several times since that, has had very good experiences in France. He says that the people he met were very grateful. I don't think every single person in France is grateful nor do I think every single person in France is ungrateful. To label an entire country one way would be wrong on both of our parts.
Pepperkorn
Jimmy Leeds seems to have forgotten Lafayette, and who bailed our ass out during the American Revolution It all evens out in the wash -- unless we destroy ourselves before the rinse cycle starts
