coldmachine
Is it just me (a scotsman in ireland who played NCAA hockey for Cornell)or should some of the asswipes who should know better get their finger out and get Don Cherry inducted? Jimmy Leeds
Inducted? How about committed?
DevilMinder
I hope he wears his purple suit to the induction ceremony of either of these fine institutions.

Jas0nMacIsaac
I think he means HHOF, I dunno, I think he will end up in there for his work with CBC. I love watching his segments but he won't shut up about Toronto.
sheeps
Seeing as how Trashcan is in as a media dude, I can't see how Cherry wouldn't get in, at least eventually.
devilsrule33
Don Cherry is the best. Coach's Corner is the best. I love listening to him.
peteyvegas
Me too!! I hope he does get inducted. If not for his coaching, just for his personality and overall body of work and love of the game. He is the embodiment of the old time Canadian. With a little tilt, I might add. sheeps
Anybody that gets CBC - well, let's just say I'm really jealous. I've watched every single Coach's Corner from last year. For that matter, I've also watched almost every Headliner, Satellite Hotstove, and Behind the Mask. Coach's Corner is still the best. I like my avatar, it's a perfect depiction. It doesn't come up too well but if you see it full size... oh I found it, I'll put in it below... To me, that is Don Cherry, that is Coach's Corner. Gotta love it. peteyvegas
If anybody wants to keep this as a favorite: cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hnic/coach.html will get you his weekly show on your computer. It's about a 5-6 min. piece where he rants about one thing or another with Ron--what's his name?? And it's a lot of fun. you catch up to what's happening around the league in a few brief moments. sheeps
Ron McLean. "Ron and Don." McLean does everything, holy mackarel, Satellite Hotstove, announcing, sometimes the Headliner... he is HNIC. Go back to December 21 for a good clip including Marshall. devilsrule33
He also hots the NHL award ceremony's and does so much Olympic coverage for CBC. Before this year Maclean was not going to be back for Hockey Night in Canada because of a contract issue and in one night over 15,000 people signed a petition and it was the talk of Canada. CBC went back and finally worked out a new deal.
sheeps
CBC has a history of paying people ridiculously awful. You can read about it in Brian McFarlane's World of Hockey, which I'll be reviewing soon anyways. Doesn't Don call Leafs games, too?
devilsrule33
No he doesn't. He ha shis own radio show called grapeline and used to have his own show a while ago and comes out with a Rock'em Sock"em movie after every season. I think it is Rock'em Sock'em 15 has come out. devilsrule33
CBC did pay Maclean I think around 600 thousand dollars in the end.
sheeps
I'm sorry, I meant Ron. Doesn't Ron call Leafs games too?
devilsrule33
No he doesn't. Just does stuff for CBC on Saturday night hockey. The best part of CBC hockey is Hockey Day in Canada with the triple header of all Canadian matches with all sorts of stuff before the first game. We get a 30 minute pre-game locally, none nationally. But Matt and the Maven is good, and Doc is an incredible announcer. Wouldn't trade FSNY for CBC, despite the fact I'd get more hockey. devilsrule33
CBC does hockey right once a week but TSN is the place for hockey with about three games to week and this year they are coming out with Wednesday hockey, Every week on Wednesday. I got to see a lot more Devils hockey this year because of TSN. They are hockey.
