NJDevs.com Trivia Contest

Weekes Head

Recommended Posts

Okay, for getting 14 of the 16 letters, WC gets 14/16ths of 0 which is 0.

Derek, for getting 2 of the additional 16 letters, gets 2/16ths of 0 which is 0.

:P

But for giving the correct spelling, here is a few Rangers questions:

R#1 Who is the Rangers all time leader in goals scored?

R#2 Who scored the cup winning goal against Vancouver?

R#3 In that 1994 final Richter stopped a Vancouver penalty shot. Who took the shot?

Correct on both.

I was collecting some Devils' trivia on the net and answering them at the same time. I got 9/10 on one trivia test and this is the one I got wrong:

How was the name 'The Devils' selected?

a)real monster

b)newspaper contest

c)Pine Barrens

d)legend

I picked (d). The answer was . Was I wrong? Wasn't the reason the newspaper contest entry won BECAUSE there is the legend of the jersey devil?

/me doesn't like being wrong.

Well there is a legend and that's why a lot of people selected the name in the newspaper contest. But that's not 'how' it was selected per se, it was selected because people voted for it in the newspaper contest. So you were sort of right, but generally wrong ;) I guess they could have worded it better.

And just to finish off yesterday's question, Brian Sutter. Forgot there are actually THREE Sutters coaching these days.

10,000 preseason "Whose Line is it Anyway" points for someone who can find what the answer was for Cliff Clavins response. I'm trying to find it on the net... no luck yet.

"Archibald Leach, Bernard Schwartz, Lucille LeSueur". And the "question" was "What were the real names of Cary Grant, Tony Curtis and Joan Crawford"

Bonus...What number did Sam Malone wear with the Red Sox?

Wow. I've gotta stop getting my trivia questions off the net. The page of Rangers questions is full of errors.

Perhaps that's apropos.

It has Graves as top goal scorer and it isn't even close. You are correct sir, it is Rod Gilbert.

[bTW - CRASHER got the Espo/15]

Congratulations David. :unsure::D

BTW - official start of the contest is Sunday. Should have a picture of first prize up by then.

We got some bad ones in the calendar today, but I'll give them anyway:

(1) Where was Lou athletic director before becoming the Devils' GM?

(2) What were the names of the 4 conferences during the 1980s?

Here are some better ones:

(3) What position did Glen Sather play?

(4) Of the four teams that were in the NHL during its first season, which

two are in the league today? [hint: the wording probably gives one away]

(5) In what year did the U.S. win their first Olympic gold medal?

1. Providence College

2. You mean four divisions? I think Patrick, Adams, Norris and Smythe. The conferences were Campbell and Wales.

3. For the hell of it, I'll say defenseman

4. Montreal and Ottawa?

5. 1960

All correct but #3. Nicely done.

I wasn't aware of the 1960. I thought 1980 was the first one.... *shrug* Kinda makes 1980 less special. "Been there, done that...."

I'll be posting them once a day, but time of day will be completely random. I'm thinking two or three questions a day, but I might add bonus points.

For example:

(1) Who was the Red Wings captain before Steve Yzerman?

(2) Who holds the record for most SH goals in a game?

(3) One point for each Devils captain other than Scott Stevens.

Bonus: One point for each Rockies captain.
