NJDfan1711
Anyone watching the fight, and does anyone have a decent stream? Seems Mayweather has the edge, but I think it'll be a close one. Most people seem to think it'll come to a decision, and neither will knock the other out.

CRASHER
I lost ALL interest in this fight when I saw the PPV price tag, at that point they can both go screw
Satans Hockey
This reminded me why boxing sucks and nobody gives a sh!t unless it's a major hyped fight like this. MMA is so much more entertaining it's not even close.

Satans Hockey
You said it yourself a few posts up that mayweather is boring. Who is he gonna fight next? Who are the other big time boxers? Whether you like UFC or not at least Dana White provides the marquee match ups everyone wants to see and it doesn't take years like this. The promoters are a huge part of the issue with boxing and after this disaster of a fight I don't see casual people coming back.
Muevelos
Mayweather is, i agree, it didn't help at all. But he isn't boxing as a whole. Boxing isn't dead, never was, is well alive with or without. Millions upon millions care about the sport regardless. I like both sports well, but don't say people don't give a sh!t when it's been actually GROWING a bit the past few years. CRASHER
I'd watch a UFC show over a boxing match anyday....but thay's just personal preference, UFC has too many PPVs in a year though there used to be a time where being the world heavyweight boxing champion was a HUGE deal, the last guy I remember being such is Holyfield, I do believe that MMA is snatching up those athletes and helping delude the boxing pool....plus a sport where half the time you're getting punched in the face.....eeeekkkk
Muevelos
The reason why the UFC seems to have more presence in the States, is because of just that, the UFC. The sport of MMA is largely condensed into a single organization, which means top guys are always facing each other and every event, big or small, has a recognizeable brand behind it. This makes a great deal of difference in how the sport is perceived by a fan. quote name="CRASHER" post="1315858" timestamp="1430956512"] I'd watch a UFC show over a boxing match anyday....but thay's just personal preference, UFC has too many PPVs in a year though there used to be a time where being the world heavyweight boxing champion was a HUGE deal, the last guy I remember being such is Holyfield, I do believe that MMA is snatching up those athletes and helping delude the boxing pool....plus a sport where half the time you're getting punched in the face.....eeeekkkk Edited May 6, 2015 by CarterforPresident

I know for me the combination of strikes and takedowns and punches and wrestling thrown in makes for a more exciting contest, I wouldn't know an MMA guy from a boxer if they had name tags on (aside from when Lesnar was in the UFC, but he got people like me to put their eyes on the product....and we liked it) I also think in our concussion-sensitive society boxing will never be able to get back into the limelight....maybe not MMA either, but MMA is still massively growing
Muevelos
The difference really is UFC is here, Boxing is a global sport, was going before even tv was around, countries like Cuba its the #1 sport. It has plenty of guys in the pool, to the causal fan it's May or Pac, but that's far from it. Globally it dwarfs MMA obviously. Heavyweights, over in Europe, they are a huge deal. The K bros? Wlad makes more in one fight then the top 5 in MMA do co combined, and the heavyweight pool has been getting filled much better though. But it definitely isn't dead, more channels have been pulling boxing to their station's in the years, it's far, far from dead, mayweather and pac sure as hell didn't help lol.. Probably the biggest cash cow in Boxing Canelo fights Kirkland this week, that'll be huge. Maybe?
