  1. From what I have heard and read Nolan would be a mistake: His team supposedly hate him and he is viewed as selfish and inconsiderate. In addition, there was a rumor that his back is so bad he will probably need surgery IF they can repair it which is why he has missed so many games this year. He is damaged goods and a negative charactor. I say we pass on this one.
  2. Stevens is too good to be in the "All-Star" exhibition.
  3. I don't know if anyone else caught this, but I was alternating between FSNY & MSG for tonights game and it was interesting to listen to the annoucers interpretation of different plays. (my channels are 88 & 87). The most interesting of the 1st-2nd periods: Lindros levels Kvasha: JD: "It was an accident; Just two players colliding. Wow! Lindros just crushed Kvasha who is still on the ice. I don't think either player saw the other." Isles telecast: "Can't see how interference wasn't called. Clearly in the replay Lindros eyes Kvasha who did not have the puck on the penalty kill. Interference should have been called. Accuracy: Isles telecast. You can see in the replay that Lindros eyes him and lines him up and lowers his shoulder. Mironov hit on Peca: JD: "Peca is down. He's had problems with his knees and his shoulder. He's recently had surgury on both. That might be the problem." ISLES: That was a vicious and illegal hit from behind by Mironov. (Peca seen on bench trying to shake off the whiplash). Accuracy: Isles telecast. It was a vicious crosscheck. Once again for some reason JD s just biast this season. Is he pitching for the GM job after Slats potentially gets fired this April??
  4. Here is a far superior Power ranking: http://hockeytraderumors.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2412&mode=&order=0&thold=0 1 (1) Ottawa Senators: The NHL's best keeps rolling: Sens have a 5 game winnning streak which includes Lalimes three shutouts! Hossa #2 in NHL with 30 goals. 2 (5) New Jersey Devils: Since forming new lines Devils are unbeaten in 7 (6-0-1). Gomez, Frisen, Elias, Nieuwy and Rupp scoring at will. Brodeur has to be considered a Hart candidate (Wins games even when team can't score). 3 (2) Vancouver Canucks: In spite of 2-1 week, Canucks are starting to cool off (3-3 in last 6). Bertuzzi the best power forward in the game; Another great Milbury trade. 4 (4) Detroit Red Wings: Wings holding steady (2-1) doesn't stop the rumor mill: Robitaille on the block; Federov out of Detroit (UFA) and hobbled Yzerman to return after All-Star game. 5 (3) Dallas Stars: Stars (1-0) lead the league in ties (games they should have won). The acquisition of Lemieux will allow them to win those types of games and make them the best in the west for the remainder of the season. 6 (7) St.Louis Blues: Even week for Blues (2-2). Rucinsky 14 G's, 5 in his last 6 games. Injury to rookie Cajanek hurts. Are the Blues better without Pronger??? 7 (6) Philadelphia Flyers: 6 game winning streak snapped (by Atlanta?). Recchi gets Brendl promoted to top line. Williams left knee injury is day-to-day 8 (9) Toronto Maple Leafs: Leafs (3-1) still playing well, despite injury to Mogilny. If Belfour's back injury is more serious than reported, can Trevor Kidd continue the standards set by the Eagle in Toronto? 9 (10) Minnesota Wild: Although catching up on the Canucks, have not played as well in new year (3-5). Kuba placed on IR. PP QB Zholtok also hurt. 10 (8) Boston Bruins: Once the cr
  5. I only saw the parting commentary but ANY hockey show is a good show. I only hope that JD doesn't allow his newly found Ranger bias to creep into his hockey views. I haven't liked JD this season--at all. I used to enjoy him because he used to call an objective game, but for some reason this year he makes too many weak excuses for the Ranger$ misfortune and blaming officials when the Rangers lose.
  6. What a crappy PR! How can Dallas be ahead of the Devils? They have played four more games and have less wins. They also lead the league in ties because they can't get the job done. Pure BS. Dallas is good, but not that good.
  7. Pitt also took garbage for Kasper as well. It will be interesting what they will accept

    High Trade Value

High trade value would be determined by the needs of the team we are trading with. Not every team has the same need: * Boston needs goaltending, * Atlanta and Montreal need defensive defensemen *Nashville and Calgary need goal scoring, *Colorado and San Jose need penalty killers

    Warning

I would love for him to stay in NJ (and win the Conn Symth one more time!!!). As for the Media....we are not a NY team.

    500 !

    Classic goal scoring!!! Yeah Niewy
  11. He should have numbers underneath his picture on the charges of fraud and deception. He is wrecking his clients careers.
  12. By the way, Claude was traded for another ex-Devil Pellerin!!! Wow, the finals are going to be all the more sweeter when we beat them again this year in June.

    Carolina Curse

I say we split if Marty plays both games (rarely does ANY goalie play good in back to back games). If Schwabbie starts in one of the games: We sweep.
  14. Hate to burst your bubble, but the village idiot is MARK (N)Єverson, not Darren who covers the Islanders.

    Carolina Curse

Although the recent play of the team has me very upbeat, I see we have the dreaded Canes in a home & home this weekend. I hate playing the Canes because they have our number in the past year. We outshoot them and out play them but can't win. How will we fare this weekend, Predictions???
  16. WHoa, Matt & the Maven are sheer entertainment! Great chemistry between them Matty is the perfect straight man for the Maven's rants. It is the only between period segments that I actually look forward to watching. Rangers, even with Trautwig aren't as good and ESPN has too many commericials. As for as his crediblity, I haven't seen any of his rumors come even close to happening.
  17. I don't even reading the Post, other than Sunday for Larry Brooks. (N)Єverson is just too bitter and does a half assed job. He is the worst sports writer I have ever read.
  18. I think Friesen is starting show himself finally.
  19. Really? Sorry I really don't care enough about the "All-Star" game to follow.
  20. Burns, Marty, Stevens, Nieds, Rafi and Madden or Langs. Maybe Elias for the world team.
  21. Yes, I believe so. Either that or Christian Berglund has become a brand name.
  22. I guess the "B" grades are just happy faces!
  23. http://thefourthperiod.com The half-way point of the season has come and here is the report card for the Devils first half of the 2002-2003 season: Forwards: John Madden (A): Bobby who? He entered the season doing what he said he would do. Has played near flawless hockey all season. Jamie Langenbrunner (A): What a steal. Love this kid. Does everything and the team is a much better one when he is in the line-up. Tied for the lead in team scoring!! Scott Gomez (A-): Has been leading the team in scoring almost all season. Burns is starting to appreciate his talents a little more with the new line formations. Patrik Elias (B): Hasn't played to everyones expectations, but is adjusting to life without the A-line. Starting to look more compfortable and establishing chemistry with Bicek. Brian Gionta (B-): Little G has won me over. I have doubted him since day one. His size was always the issue, but the heart and the effort has won my respect. I miss him not in the line-up. Jeff Friesen (B-): Not playing up to expectations, but he is sixth in team scoring and has the third best in +/- (+9). His speed opens lanes and keeps the defense on their heels. He has been under utilized. Turner Stevenson (C+): Lacks the polish and finesse of other skilled players, but a team player through and through who inspires his teammates. Jay Pandolfo (C+): He will never put you in a position to lose. He and Madden are the best penalty killing forwards in the league. If he could only score. Sergei Brylin
  24. Yeah, thats the kind of player I want to acquire. Dumbass.
