  1. Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but that's definitely a stretch haha... Out of anyone's control, including his employer (NJ Media Group), what kind of sweet offer NHL.com probably gave him to switch. I was being sarcastic, yes, but somehow a lot of the the incoming changes feel related to turnover that the Devils have seen in the last 2 years or so. Sent from my C6725 using Tapatalk
  2. I have a feeling we're going to tell him to take a hike and he scores 60 points for some other team.
  3. This x1000. Is it a stretch to say that this is all Lou's fault?
  4. While it seems like the Devils need shooters - they're going to end up with the least shots on goal in the league - I really don't think they do. They just don't have players who are good enough with the puck to make plays in the offensive zone. Boucher, Smith-Pelly, Palmieri, Cammalleri, Kennedy - these players have all been bulk shooting types at one point in their careers. It's up to New Jersey to find players to help these guys out. I like Hodgson and Pulkkinen but I'm not sure they are enormous play drivers. Regardless of where the Devils draft, they have to find a better 3rd line center than Jacob Josefson. Cody Hodgson is terrible. You don't typically play the fourth line on a bad team if you're a blossoming young forward. He's played on the fourth line in Buffalo for the past two years iirc, and at least the majority of this season if I'm wrong. I'd be interested in any of Detroit's, Florida, EDM's, or hell, even Buffalo's young forwards that they don't see carrying on their roster. We can't afford to give up assets really and it would be kind of foolish not to have a wait & see approach (Wood, Zacha, Coleman, Blender, Bouch, Speers, Santini) EDIT: Hodgson can come on as a PTO or ATO, it wouldn't hurt to give him a look. Pulkkinen I'd be more willing to trade for. Sent from my C6725 using Tapatalk

    2016 Draft

I'd be very happy if this are our pre-4th round draftees. I particularly like the contrast between Falkowsky and Girard. Even if only one of them develops, we might hit a homerun there. Obviously I think we would like to have been higher than pick 11, but Jost seems like a surprisingly good pick. Is he a right handed shot?
  6. Marek Zidlicky? I'm not sure why you're equating small to being an all offense defenseman. All offense defenseman would also describe Eric Gelinas. If we're going to make small size a requirement for when drafting for defenseman, that just sounds silly. There's excellent defensemen out there who just happen to be undersized. That being said, I think I understand where you're coming from when you say you'd like a pure offense defenseman, but I don't know if that equates to a puck-moving defenseman. I remember Taormina and actually liked his offense and I think he and Zidlicky were pretty close to pure offense dmen, but were rather liabilities in the d-zone Sent from my C6725 using Tapatalk
  7. Really? If someone could provide some video of the Boston College v. Harvard game, I'd love to see some of the young guys on BC like Santini and Wood. Wood is looking great, Zacha and Speers are looking great, Jacobs is starting to fill out his game, I've read that Santini is really developing the offensive side of his game. I think after drafting another forward in the first round this year we can start looking at re-upping the defenseman stockpike again. Is there anyone else were missing? So good to see these prospects produce.
  8. Know what former NJ Devils I'm really interested in? Jaromir Jagr, the 44-year old just scored his 25th of the season tonight against Tampa. BRING HIM BACK SHERO. JUST DO IT. Are we a playoff team if we have Jagr's 25 goals? The guy just does not show any signs of slowing down. He's going to be the next Chris Chelios.
  9. Stralman is a beast. The best thing about him is that Tampa poached him from NYR and who got him from us. NYR desperately needs him, especially in a year or two from now.
  10. @ The idea of trading Schneider personified in this gif. http://gph.is/1maiw0M Blackwood is the only guy I would trust, but that's a stretch. He's only 19 and while his OHL save percentage is one of the best in the league. He's still 5-6 years away from even sniffing the NHL roster. Schneider will be 35+ by then and we have to hope Blackwood is the guy of the future. I don't think Wedge is that guy.
  11. It definitely needs to be looked at. You CANNOT have a replay system and still get the calls wrong. That is fvcked up beyond belief. It was discussed elsewhere on the board, but it has been brought up that it can slow the game down and coaches often use it as a "timeout with benefits". I remember reading a possible solution to it, but I can't remember what it was and who suggested it atm.
  12. It's a pleasure to call you both my enemy and my acquaintance.
  13. In the Game Day Thread, it's being speculated that Pamieri will warrant 5-6 years and between 5-6 million. He's also a RFA, not an UFA, which gives him less leverage when negotiating a contract. As it's harder for him to say, "Well I'll just goto other teams and see what they'll offer." http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/134749/top-20-new-jersey-devils-prospects-developing-gusto/ In regards to the OP, this article is from February 23rd, but has some really good insights. I think of the guys who have not turned pro yet, we have a good possibility to find some gems in our forward stock. Miles Wood, Alexander Kerfoot, Blake Speers, John Q, Pavel Zacha are all mentioned and are having great success. I think all these guys stand a pretty good chance to at least stratch the surface in the pros.
  14. Holy sh!t. Isn't that elite status? I know nothing is a guarantee, but this is what I mean when I say that the stock of forwards we have isn't as bad we think.
  15. I think we also have to point how how well this team has been blocking shots in Schneider's absence. On Severson: I hope he's okay too, he blocked a shot tonight too that looked like it hurt.
  16. Nah, it's all good. I wasn't clear enough.
  17. Shiiiit. fvck. DAMMIT. What a good game. Carlson really picked the corner there. 159:34 seconds of shutout for Scott Wedgewood. I hope Larsson is okay. Three cheers for the performance of Scott Wedgewood these past few games. He's been a big surprise this season and I hope he can keep it up. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts yet again on Sunday.
  18. It would have been a hook on Henrique. It was Henrique's stick caught between the arm and body, the Caps defender held it. Technically I think it would be a holding.
  19. What a game by these two teams. I applaud them both. The rarity of these 0-0 games makes them all the more exciting. I'd also like to point out the game Travis Zajac is having. He's is a beast when it comes to winning puck battles and I think that's why he finds such success when playing with players like Palmieri and Parise. If you watch Zajac, he's got great skating speed and mobility and he rarely EVER loses a puck battle, no matter who is it he's battling.
  20. That's what I think Severson said to Ovie after the call. Not with so few words though. lol He was definitely mouthing off to Ovie after that. Is it legal to hold onto a players stick when the stick gets caught in between the arm and the side of the body? A puck bounced right to Henrique and his stick got caught in between the arm of the defender. I think it was on purpose.
  21. The Adam Larsson moustache is such a pornstache. Lol, he's got a hell of a lot of gauze stuffed in there. Yep, he's a warrior.
  22. Ouch, Larsson took a puck to the face there from a Burakovsky shot. He seems fine, just a little dinged and bleeding from the mouth, maybe lost a tooth or two.
  23. I think Pietila has moved up into the top 6 toward the end of that 2nd period. This kid battles, he's hard on the puck, doesn't shy away from a hit, skates hard. We're going to have to cut a good deal of dead weight from the roster. I want to see this kid get a good shot at the roster next season, along with a lot of the other Albany regulars/NHL Call-ups (Blandisi, Boucher, Mozik). Maybe Boucher can be considered a regular by now. Helgeson and Warsofsky have not convinced me and should problaby start next year in the AHL (Or if re-signed, in Warsofsky's case). Sislo is Sislo and is a good player to have bounce between the two rosters. He shoots the puck a lot is a likely a decent first call-up option. With both Management teams (Lou AND Shero), he's often been an early call-up so there's something there, but I just don't think he's truly an NHL regular.
  24. I'm starting to hate the observation, "Oh he looks so calm out there, so steady...", just because every great goalie looks calm and steady (ie Brodeur, Schneider), but what I'm seeing is that he's very good at staying square with the puck. Good lateral movement, has a great glove hand. I'm shocked that he's looked as good as he has. I'm very curious to see more. He's handled the pressure very well and hopefully he keeps it up. He's has 5 periods of being perfect, let's see what happens in the 3rd, he's seen a lot of rubber and Holtby hasn't. EDIT: As other have commented and noticed already, he has great rebound control. Don't know if it's a result of being so hot the last few games, or if it's his mechanics, but not a lot of pucks bounce out and get away from this kid.
  25. What an open ice hit by Palmieri! Wow. The team is playing really physical tonight. They had a good scoring chance when Pietila was on the ice with Henrique and Smith-Pelly. He threw a big hit that led to the turnover. I'm loving this team and how they look. Devils are not taking any crap from the Caps tonight.
