  1. Oh me of little faith, scratched Whitey for the first time all year cause the Blues being winless in five and his mediocre performance stat-wise since the Stevens injury kind of worried me, as did going up against the Thachuk line. Nice game for Whitey though Of course for Marty and the rest of the Devils too And for the guys I did play for my fantasy team as well - three goals including a game-winner from Zidlicky.
  2. I just can't get enough of JD saying (usually after a futile third-period effort to tie a game that they farted away in the first 40 minutes): 'Now if the Rangers had only played this way for the full 60 minutes'
  3. Well other than PK I don't know anyone that actually 'loves' Chico though I never usually have any problem with him, even if he is brain dead at times and homeristic at times But I KNOW Doc and Chico are going to piss me off tonight with this Danton ass-kissing because they loved this guy when he was here...and honestly, I can only remember one other time where the broadcast team pissed me off (actually I can't remember what it was about though just that they only pissed me off once before).
  4. To be honest Skrlac did not look like that good a fighter and he had a few fights with the Devils. Just like some guys have AHL offensive skill but not NHL offensive skill, Skrlac's a great AHL fighter by all accounts, but he was not overly impressive at the NHL level.
  5. Luongo may be great on a bad team, but there are plenty of goalies that say they actually like facing more shots. When and only when he does have a good team around him, we'll see if he's the next Marty, or the next Khabibulin (hasn't done jack since Tampa's gotten good).
  6. Walk away from a positive cash flow?! How can the attendance be any worse in Newark than it is now in the middle of nowhere? There is NO cash flow if the Devils move. And there is ZERO possibility of them reupping at the CAA.

    Randy McKay

Well McKay left on somewhat bad terms so I doubt there'll be a night for him any time soon. Besides, why have another half-baked ceremony if they're just gonna screw it up anyway
  8. Well we (sort of) gave predictions in another thread so let's start this out by saying who we'll be rooting for on Super Sunday - you and niedsfan are obvious. I'm a Jets fan but I'll be rooting for the Panthers on Sunday. They're a real good story. I actually like most of the Patriots too, but I can't ever root for their coach again so I'm going for the Panthers.
  9. Hmmm...does that mean PK is actually (gasp!) NORMAL in real life?
  10. Ah...note to self read thread more carefully
  11. Oh and as for the Canadien, I'll be real imaginiative and say Rocket Richard, cause nobody else took the obvious guess yet
  12. Well there is a legend and that's why a lot of people selected the name in the newspaper contest. But that's not 'how' it was selected per se, it was selected because people voted for it in the newspaper contest. So you were sort of right, but generally wrong I guess they could have worded it better. And just to finish off yesterday's question, Brian Sutter. Forgot there are actually THREE Sutters coaching these days.
  13. After the next five games comes the All-Star break. I kind of like that they're playing all these good teams at once (and no back-to-backs), because it virtually guarantees they'll get at least four points, as the Devils don't usually suffer prolongated losing streaks and also usually give their best in the big games.

    Truth Serum

We all did. I think the team, as defending champions pretty much deserves everyone's benefit of the doubt for a year, at least in as much as people are saying they DEFINITELY won't win. You can think they won't win but don't be so definite about it, not after last year. That said, the Devils probably are not winning IF Stevens doesn't come back and the injury bug continues to hit (now Friesen's banged up supposedly). But you can say that about pretty much every team and one of their two-three most important players who also happens to be the captain. If Ottawa lost Hossa or Chara they'd still be pretty good though not quite the machine they look like now (of course they looked like a machine last year too and we know what happened in the end). If Toronto lost Belfour or Sundin they wouldn't be as good.
  15. I should clarify one thing before I (finally) go off to bed...this isn't just a matter of your comment which you've since taken back. There were apparently some other posts that went beyond anything like that tonight which got deleted that I myself didn't even see, and there were other posts a few days ago that went beyond it as well.
  16. On the one hand, I hesitate to make this post cause it's gonna come off as another admin preaching even though I've been an admin for like five minutes. On the other hand, I feel compelled to make this post just cause it's the right thing to do. Jason, I've been here about a year and a half now...I've NEVER seen anyone get banned for 'personal' reasons. When people get banned it's generally because they are an incorrigible pain in the butt to a majority of the board and their only purpose for posting is to be an incorrigible pain in the butt and they get warned and still do it. As far as RD goes, she's not asking anyone to agree with her all the time. Lord knows everyone is going to disagree with pretty much every other poster at times. What would the board be without good debates, after all? It would be nice if she got treated with a little more respect though...she does do more than people realize for the site. On a personal note I will say I had the wrong impression of her at first myself, to this day I don't know why...but she's really a good person if you give her a chance and get to know her
  17. Whadarya picking on her for? Pretty much everyone's taken their shots at Igor and rightfully so. He's sucked this year. A sad ending to a great career.
  18. A natural hattrick for Igor would be what, a penalty, a faceoff loss leading to a goal, and a shot that misses the net? He's got at least one out of three so far, probably two.
  19. Yeah I looked it up afterward, can't believe I missed that one. And I got a couple I'm surprised I got. Oh well, at least it didn't count...heh.
  20. Okay I'll try #3: Duane, Darryl, Ron, Brent, Rich, Mike? I'm pretty sure I'm right on the first five at least.
  21. Goal right off the faceoff...and guess who lost the faceoff?
  22. If they asked for Friesen for a banged-up Brindy Lou probably would have to stifle the laughter before rejecting it. If Lou was capable of laughter, that is
  23. Clemmensen's 27, Ahonen's I think 20 or 21. Clemmensen's been in the organization for years and had never gotten a start at the pro level; it was his turn so to speak. EDIT: I'm getting sammy's disease, that's like the third or fourth thread where I'm on top tonight
  24. A perfect example of what's wrong with the Rangers; a couple of posts from the Cafe: Guess Glen's country club is doing good business as usual
  25. Only the Rangers could basically get Jagr for 50 cents on the dollar and then a mere week later, LOSE to a Capitals team without Jagr and Gonchar! Of course they did basically the same thing with Kovalev last year and then lost a key late season game to the liquidated Penguins. Rangers hockey, gotta love it! (well except if you're a Ranger fan)
