Wouldn't you put Ryder in the same place?

Just read the TG write up on Ryder. Ryder is saying he thinks his back was a problem last season so he spent the summer strengthening it. He speaks about goal scoring and how the system helps the Devils win games. I don't think he gets it. The system is about playing both ways and forechecking he doesn't or didn't do either. Someone has to go, I think it could be him.

I understand the frustration I feel the same way. There is little way for players to build chemistry together. PD say he wants pairings that only means constant line changes. As fans we have little choice but to wait for the changes to come either before the opening game in Philly or even into the season with Lou doing some IR.

Lou says Merrill is "day to day" Heard that before.

What do you mean " produce " ? Merrill was much better than Gelinas on defense so Merrill stayed. You have guys that play offense they are to score goals and the defense stops shots on goal. Sometimes defense score goals. Gelinas put up points but wasn't so good at his position, defense. Gelinas may not make the team this season.

It is only day one lots can change. I agree what are the coaches thinking with Zubrus in top 6. I like Henrique with Elias , Josefson as 3rd line and Gomez as 4th line centers.

It was a good read. I like his thinking and his attitude. I wonder what went on between PD and him in Fla. We will probably never know.

Marty is not and will never be a solution should Cory go down because of injury. Devils could end the season as a loser not making the playoffs with Marty as the replacement goalie.

Agree, I expect there will be plenty of opportinuities because of injuries. I don't have much faith in Lou's assessment (what he says) of player injuries. Clowe could be out from the start offering an opportunity. Elias hasn't played 82 game in the past two season because of illness and injuries. There will be time for Boucher to step in and show what he has.

Lots of money freeing up is good but it depends on how the new found money is spent. Lou's past track record of get older player on contracts that are too long and too expensive will put us right back into the same mess, just changing the players names.
