  1. we drafted Quennville one spot ahead of him... kid does have 9 goals in 44 games this year. 11 points total. I remember reading that Claude was pissed at us for not selecting him that year.
  2. Yeah, that's the caveat is that we'd need to be assured he wouldn't walk for nothing. That's why I am pretty certain he'll be dealt. Just hoping for the historically unlikely thing to happen where we deal him for whatever and somehow reconnect in the summer. A second and a decent prospect would be nice, especially given the other seconds and thirds that we have been stockpiling. We've all seen what Ray can do with those.
  3. Still would love an extension because I am biased towards him... especially if the return is trending to be less than a first. I guess we'll see what happens.
  4. For me, personally, it's just a multitude of things: The way the Schneider trolls have treated him since his acquisition, insisting that Kinkaid was the better option despite all evidence to the contrary The seeking out of people on Twitter to block. I understand that when people specifically @ you, then by all means, block them. No one should be harrassing you personally. But specifically seeking out your name is just... I don't know. I get it to an extent, but Twitter is essentially a modern day forum. People post sh!t in real time, as they're happening. If you let in a goal that's anything less than an elite snipe by Kucherov or something... people are going to complain. Why are you going to seek out this negativity when they're not specifically invading your mentions? It's just off-putting to me. But beyond all that, I just hate watching him play. His positioning is so bad. His mechanics are just so off at all times. He's like uncontrollable chaos at all times. He'll get across to make a save on a two on one, but he has zero control over his body so he puts himself in the first row of section six after making the save, leaving the net empty for the next 10 plus seconds. He's just sloppy as fvck in the net. I have just basically seen enough of him. Then there's the other side of it. Obviously, his run last year to preserve our playoff spot was very welcome. I think we all needed that year when it's been half a decade of sucking... which makes this year even harder to take. I think most of us know that this run was an anomaly when we think of his career as a whole. Still, that doesn't mean it didn't suck seeing him *literally crying* after that game a few weeks ago. You feel for the guy. At the end of the day, regardless of the division within the Devils fanbase about either loving or hating him, it's hard to feel bad for him. The Devils gave an undrafted goalie an opportunity he may have never had elsewhere. He got to follow in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Marty. He got to live close to home and live out his dream while making a ton of money doing it and having a nice life off of the ice. Overall, he'll look back on his time with the Devils very positively, so it is what it is. Hopefully he can become a decent backup somewhere else. As for me, I've seen enough of him to know that he isn't the answer here. Credit to Ray for getting anything for him. I figured there was a chance with all the smoke of credible journalists saying he may be moved, but am surprised he got a 5th, even if it is in 2022.
  5. me right when kinkaid is gone
  6. TRADE DEADLINE DAY The tank rolls on... mixed bag of results last night, not really that positive concerning teams trailing us but a few teams ahead of us made headway. NYR got a loser point with 30 seconds left. NYR now at 63 PTS, 7 PTS up on the Devils MIN beat STL, MIN now at 66 PTS, a full 10 PTS ahead of the Devils ARI beat WPG, ARI now at 63 PTS, 7 PTS ahead of the Devils CHI (61 PTS), DET (55 PTS), and OTT (49 PTS) all lost despite being competitive. That's too bad. Today's Relevant Tank Games MTL @ NJD (56 PTS) - Kinkaid slated to start this game, so it could probably be penciled in as an L... but a lot of smoke that he could possibly be traded, especially with the Devils securing extra goalie help in Bingo by giving Cormier a 3 year deal after a strong performance in the AHL since being brought back from the ether. Seems like the only reason the Devils would have to do that would be if they are calling up Blackwood. So we'll see. Obviously, we are expecting that MoJo will (sadly) be gone, barring some crazy circumstances where Ray isn't offered enough value. That seems highly unlikely. Never know what else could happen either with nobody seemingly safe outside of the obvious folks. We may also see the first NHL game where noted best friends McLeod and Bastian play together, as well as the potential debut of Carrick. Should be interesting at least. LAK (52 PTS) @ TBL - Really difficult to see this going well for us. LAK have been atrocious and the Lightning should be handed the Stanley Cup now. EDM (58 PTS) @ NSH - Again, really difficult to see this going well for the Devils, especially with McDavid suspended. FLA (62 PTS) @ COL (65 PTS) - an overtime win for Florida here would be cool, though both teams are probably far enough ahead of the Devils that it doesn't matter ANA (57 PTS) @ VAN (60 PTS) - again, an overtime win for the Ducks would be legit. but either way one of these teams will likely be distancing themselves from us so. also in action: BUF (66 PTS) @ TOR
  7. please for the love of god let this happen today... though he is certainly important to our TANK, I would take any asset for him
  8. Win-win in this Rags - Capitals game, super entertaining, physical affair gets tied by the Rags in the last 30 seconds so they get a useless point in the standings to pull further away from us and ultimately ends with Henrik face down on the ice after suffering another L, his iconic pose. and I killed three hours of work watching it.
  9. decent tank results last night. congratulations rags, ya played yaselves. NYR now 6 PTS clear of the Devils FLA won, now 6 PTS clear of the Devils. Unfortunately it was LAK on the losing end, they remain 3 PTS back of the Devils EDM won, 2 PTS up on the Devils. would have been nice if that was a 3 PT game but it wasn't, so ANA remains 1 PT ahead of the Devils. COL won, 9 PTS up on the Devils BUF won, 10 PTS up on the Devils. Don't think we have to worry about making up that kind of a gap. PHI won, 9 PTS up on the Devils. Devils remain in 4th from the bottom with 56 PTS. DET 55 PTS LAK 52 PTS OTT 49 PTS (have been shutout twice in a row, traded Dzingel & Duchene, with Stone left to go. they won't win another game this season) RELEVANT TANK GAMES TODAY: NYR (62 PTS) @ WSH DAL (65 PTS) @ CHI (61 PTS) SJS @ DET (55 PTS) STL @ MIN (64 PTS) CGY @ OTT (49 PTS) WPG @ ARI (61 PTS) Go Rangers, Blackhawks, Detroit (SJS on a back to back where they got shutout by CBJ last night... maybe there's a chance?) Wild, Sens, and Coyotes
  10. tonight's relevant games: NJD: 56 PTS OTT (49 PTS) @ CBJ (to be honest this game is mostly irrelevant. we all saw how OTT performed without their big three. they're now 7 PTS behind the Devils. regardless...) COL (61 PTS) @ CHI (61 PTS) MIN (62 PTS) @ DET (55 PTS) ANA (57 PTS) @ CGY
  11. Carl Hagelin has one more point on the season than Ben Lovejoy. It's apples to oranges. The Capitals cap situation is more than likely what would keep them out of the MoJo talks, Burakovsky would have to be moved probably. LAK did retain 50% of Hagelin's salary though.
  12. Good tank results last night, not completely great, but solid: DET came back to lose in OT to CHI. CHI is now 7 pts up on the Devils DET is 1 pt ahead of the Devils. COL beat WPG. COL is now 7 pts up on the Devils as well. Unrelated to the tank, but the Islanders lost. fvck them. Hard for me to see the Devils losing to Ottawa tonight, but we'll see what happens. Who even knows if Duchene or Stone will be playing. Duchene was said to not be playing another game with the Senators and then yesterday it came out that he said he's playing. Who TF knows. Other relevant games: CAR @ FLA (60 PTS) MIN (60 PTS) @ NYR (60 PTS) LAK (52 PTS) @ NSH NYI @ EDM (54 PTS) AZ (59 PTS) @ VAN (59 PTS) also in separate action are DAL, BUF, and PHI who all have 63 points, so with 22 games left it's hard to see the Devils making up a nearly 10 point gap but I'll hope for those teams to win regardless. Anyways... since I will be at the game and will rooting for Cory and the team to do well from the moment my ass is in the seat, just gonna hope these other results break our way.
  13. I wish they would, I really don't want to have to relegate my MoJo jersey to the closet for a while Regardless, I think Staple's point was they don't have the ADDITIONAL assets to throw on top. meaning they can't add in those picks on top of whatever else whereas other teams can. Now Bob McKenzie is tweeting speculation that he believes it could be something worked out with LAK for a depth piece like Carl Hagelin (3.5 mil) or Kyle Clifford (2mil) but they won't be able to actually complete the trade until DSP clears waivers tomorrow. So... He also said that there is nothing at all set in stone about that and that it's all speculation, so now I am backing off the ledge and thinking that maybe something won't happen tonight.
  14. Lotta smoke today... First the news broke that the Caps were putting Dimitry Jaskin on waivers, when he wasn't at practice. Then, DSP was pulled off and instead placed on waivers. A team official even initially said that his absence was due to him being on waivers (Jaskin) After the fact, Todd Reirden (their HC) said that "a lot of stuff is going on behind the scenes and the team made the decision." Following that, one of the main guy's with the prominent Capitals blog "Russian Machine Never Breaks" tweeted that "League sources say the Capitals have a trade in the works. Looking to clear money for it." and perhaps most credibly, in an Islanders Q&A on the Athletic, Isles beat writer Arthur Staple had this to say with regards to if the Isles would be interested in Johansson: " @Kyle K. I like Johansson and I've heard Trotz does as well from their days in DC. I've also heard the Caps are pushing hardest to get Johansson back and there's a decently long list of suitors, so the Isles without their 2019 3rd or 4th may not have the assets to get in a bidding war." https://theathletic.com/826631/2019/02/19/live-islanders-qa-with-arthur-staple-on-wednesday-from-12-1-p-m-et/ I think something might go down today, but we'll see.
  15. just inventing sh!t to be negative about at that point
  16. not hanging my hat on anything, merely correcting him that McLeod was not drafted in the same year as Dahlin, etc. Ty Smith was. I am of the opinion that McLeod will never be more than a 3rd liner at best. Hopefully, the Boqvist pick will make up for that but if not the Bratt pick is certainly something we can hang our hats on. Regardless, I agree with hoping for losses. I can't bring myself to root against Cory getting right, but he's not going to win every game he plays in regardless of whether I root for it or not so... Objectively, last night was a pretty good result for the Devils. Johansson and Bratt put on a show, Kinkaid continued commanding the tank, and the following happened elsewhere: AZ won, pushing them to 5 points ahead of the Devils, and also allowed EDM to take them to OT with a goal in the last 11 seconds so they're now tied with us at 54 points, but have played one less games (and still may potentially add at the deadline, which would be hilarious) ANA won, now 3 pts above NJD FLA won, now 6 pts above NJD NYR won, now 6 pts above NJD Other than maybe EDM winning that 3 point game I don't think it could have went any better. Tonight, we have two important games, CHI (59 PTS) @ DET (54 PTS) and WPG @ COL (59 PTS). The other two games on the schedule. So let's go Red Wings in OT and Go Avs... Thursday is a massive game for the tank... Ottawa coming in to town. I'm not going to be too upset if we win that game though, it seems virtually impossible that Ottawa would pass us, they're 5 PTS back, have already shut down Duchene, and will be moving Stone as well. They're pretty much locked into 31st in my eyes.
  17. I agree with your sentiment of wanting to get the best pick possible, but we got Ty Smith last year. McLeod was after the like 84 point season or whatever, Hynes' first year.
  18. that burn and subsequent sh!t-posting about him has occurred like five different times since his trade here. it always resurfaces. which is fine cause it's hilarious, but I always laugh at the people on there who think they're special because they have stories of him being a douchebag. So you're telling me that a kid that was one of the best players in the world at something he does, who went #1 overall in the NHL draft, that got sent to a city where objectively (note: I have never been to Edmonton) one of the only 'cool' things to do as a 21 year old is go out and get hammered... was a douchebag? wow, what a shock. it's also completely mindblowing that he didn't want to engage with every single fan that wanted to harass him at the bar / club not everyone is going to be nico hischier at the age of 18... the dude went to a town where there was probably nothing to do but go out 24/7 and he had an ego that was propped up by being one of the best of the best in a media environment that treats hockey players like the US treats music artists / movie stars etc. of course he had a big ego. so he's come here and grown up. great! that's what everyone does. they do stupid sh!t when they're kids and they learn and mature. (this isn't directed at you... just don't feel like responding to the neckbeards on reddit that think they're special for having seen him out drinking once)
  19. Yep. I love Cory, a lot... have been a huge defender of his until this season where I have been pretty much just conceding that he may be finished as a top quality goaltender (which is still possibly... probably? true) and man was I happy for him last night but at the same time... a conversation I definitely had with my brother who is going to the game with me Sunday. (score 4-3 Wild) ME: Okay, this is kinda perfect now because Cory has come in and looked good, we fought back, but hopefully the game ends with the score this way. HIM: Why? I want him to get a win already. ME: because at this point the L is still on Kinkaid's record, and Schneider will obviously start Sunday so I don't know if I can endorse this team winning two in a row... I'd be fine with the game ending the way it has with him feeling good about his performance and us hopefully pulling out a victory at home. then Lovejoy scored and I threw that all out the window hoping for a W. but now I feel torn about wanting to see them win tomorrow in person... maybe we can get some favorable results today and feel less sh!tty if he picks up another W, lol.
  20. Close the thread boys, our work is finished here
  21. I am not excited about it, but it's just a light at the end of the tunnel. These games are miserable and I feel like an idiot for even watching them because it's the same sh!t every night. Regardless, I doubt we come in 31st anyway. Ottawa has a massive head start on it and will only be worse when they trade Stone and Duchene. I just want us to have the best chance at picking in the top five. The "#RELENTLESS" year where they were semi-competent landed us Michael McLeod. The bottoming out of 2016-17 landed us Nico Hischier. If we're going to suck, then let's suck all the way. fvck it.
  22. Except that isn't true. I wish it was, but we need a lot to fall into place. Unmentioned in my post was the fact that Detroit winning was at the expense of Ottawa who is still three points behind us, unfortunately I think we will fall somewhere in the bottom five for sure. Nights like this are especially helpful considering Chicago was so close to us. Just keep piling up these L's, who fvcking cares at this point.
