Jas0nMacIsaac
Cox is the biggest moron I have ever seen. Crosby is only a bigger Samsonov? The guy should be shot in his steps for saying that. Crosby has vision that Samsonov could only dream off. Crosby also is much better with the puck then Samsonov. Thats says alot since Samsonov is a wizzard with the puck. Crosby also competes better then Samsonov, once again not taking anything away from Samsonov since he plays hard. Kessel and Frolik have speed, thats all a moron like Cox will notice. Crosby has every other entangable that you need to play hockey. The thing that seperates Gretzky from other hockey players was his vision. Wayne wasn't the fastest, was surly not the strongest and didn't have all that great a shot. His hockey sense was years ahead of any other player in the NHL. Thats where Crosby is comparable to Gretzky, he knows where the pucks will be and he knows where his linemates are at all times.
Pepperkorn
Well in the writers defense, he is just saying Crosby hasn't wow-ed everyone at Juniors and he's pondering on whether every other writer isn't just making excuses. Cox may well be a butthead but he's just calling it as he (and the scoreboard) sees it -- not how you see but he. Gretz produced plain and simple - that was what made him the great one. There are lots of guys with fantastic vision -- but if they dont have the skill to put the vision to good use -- well then rather than "Great one" their nickname is "coach" unless of course they also lack the gift of articulation -- then their nickname is "hockey dad"
redruM
PK the thing about the article that bothered me wa that he made it seem as if Thornton (for example) was a disappointment becuase he is not Gretz. RIDICULUS!!!
Jas0nMacIsaac
Plays Crosby for 25 minutes and he will pack on thew points. The guy is getting 3rd line ice time with PP situations.....the PK unit has been on the ice for the majority of the games anyway. Cox must not be watching the game, he is the most dominant player the tourney has seen since Forsberg and Naslund together. The kid is also only 17. Derek21
It's just too much hype to think that anyone will be Gretzky. Those days are done. How about letting this kid be the next Sidney Crosby?
Weekes Head
It's bad, all the hype. If he turns out to be not as great as Gretz, yet STILL one of the best players around, he'll be deemed a disappointment. The hype is just setting up for disappointment. He's too young for all of this hype, it's not fair to him. Too much pressure on such a young kid. I gotta say, he's handled it very well though. Hopefully it doesn't go to his head.
