Well I apologize for not being on NJDevs much the last half of the season.. It was my last semester of college and of course the hardest one yet.. I'm also spending the last 3 weeks of June in Europe, so in July I plan to be more active!

Go Devs!

PS- DM we had 2 years for you to pick up the NJDevs.com brick from me while I was down at school near you haha

Phew. Final thesis draft is finished and sent to my supervisor for a last read. A PhD is bloody hard work. I am so looking forward to being able to enjoy life again. All I have done of late is write, eat, sleep and play hockey occasionally. NEED a holiday!

Have a 6-month position at the Bureau of Meteorology here helping to get some of their research products into operational use, to do with climate/seasonal forecasting in the south pacific. Potential for something more after that, more related to my area of specialism.

I assume most, if not all, of the European players are citizens of their respective countries.

It took Marty a long time to become a US citizen. I would imagine those who leave during the summer renew their visas but, I could be wrong, dont they limit you the number of times you can leave and come back on a new visa?

Yes they do. Hence issues at the trade deadline when a player from a Canadian team (usually a European player) gets traded to a US team. Sometimes takes a few days for everything to get sorted out.

Luckily though there is a fast-track visa for pro sports people.

Dunno, nothing fixed. Would like to head up to the Gold Coast, maybe Darwin too, just to get some sunshine. Working through summer is not fun.

Isn't it getting cold there now? We just got an email from a friend in NSW along with himself in THE WORST VIDEO in the world. it wasn't that bad... Hot Kind Of Love I think it was called ah no Hot Kinda Love.. ... trauma. He's so funny playing rhythm guitar all laughing at himself in the background. I'd love to visit...

I technically started my PhD in 2005, but didn't actually start the project that ended up being my PhD topic until May 2008, so all in all not too bad timing on the actual project.

Yeah, it is cold here. Not COLD, but cold. Aussie's don't seem to understand the concept of insulation. Yeah miserable grey winter to come. Hence the desire to head up north where the sun sometimes shines.

It's about 5:30 Sunday morning and for some reason it just hit me now that the Yankee game I'm going to later this month for my friends birthday is during the first round of the NHL draft. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited as hell to go to the game but this begs the question, do I try to follow the draft live on my brother's blackberry or DVR it and try to make it through the whole game and Bronx and back to NJ hoping that no one around me gives any of the details away so I can be surprised when I watch it? Reminds me of that episode of How I Met Your Mother where they try to watch the Super Bowl a day later and try avoid accidentally hearing about who won for the whole day.

I've just moved from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, so I'm much happier in the (slightly) warmer winter climate, not that it's as bad as places in the USA.

You could wear the sensory depriver 5000 (if that's what it's called, it's been a while).

I'm looking forward to planning my eastern USA trip once the schedules come out this month, for March/April 2012.

Hopefully get to a baseball game too.
