devilsrule33
To think what the Devils only had to give up to get Stillman and Commodore. Are you kidding me Rutheford? Eaves and Corvo were two of the weakest players during the Sens playoff run last year. Eaves had trouble cracking the lineup and Corvo made some terrible turnovers like the present he gave Jamie Langenbrunner in overtime of game 2. The Sens just became a whole lot better. insanity_gallops
What really confuses me about all these deals Rutherford makes is that they are curiously for the present. Eaves and Corvo are two players who can help right away. So were Eric Belanger and Tim Gleason for Jack Johnson.

insanity_gallops
Random thought: any update on how Justin Williams is progressing? Initial timetable was 4 - 6 months starting in December. If he's on or ahead of schedule, they'd get him back during playoffs.
DevilinLA
The Devils do not have the horses to pull off this deal, and Stillman and Commodore are two of the least appetizing players for New Jersey. Nonetheless, Eaves has got some talent and Corvo can at least put up a bunch of assists while resembling a defenseman. It's an intriguing move - the 'Canes got worse, but the Southeast is still up for grabs, and they didn't get much worse. Meanwhile they got 2 guys who will be 'Canes for a while and who are, at the very least, NHL players, even if Eaves might be slightly overpaid and Corvo more so. The thing is this is exactly what Ottawa needs - so it's annoying to see them slough off two of their most useless players for two guys who will contribute immediately. brodeurrocks
Big move for Ottawa who now need to sort out their goalie situation. Eaves has some upside but the Canes are overpaying at this point for his production.
SatansDevils
The Hurricanes have the edge of this trade? I want whatever you're on Rutherford's a horrible GM, how they lucked into a Cup is beyond me. Stillman and Commodore were both nice assets and they get what, a forward who had a ton of chances and never did anything and an okay offensive defenseman.
