SC Devs Fan
MARTY HITS 30 AGAIN http://www.nypost.com/seven/02142008/sport...again_97494.htm This record is now arguably unbreakable, 50 percent beyond the one he broke. The Devils were still a Cupless team the last time Martin Brodeur failed to win 30 games in a season
SatansDevils
Yes correction- it is 12 straight years now for Brodeur with at least 30 wins in a season. Last night I said 11 which was my bad. Congratulations to Brodeur for year #12!
Devils731
This is one of those records that is simply awesome but doesn't get much recognition. I guess the 40 win season mark does get a fair amount of national attention but this 30 win streak is more impressive to me.

Devs4LIFE
Gionta, the Devils' record goal-scorer, says the trade rumors involving his underperforming name are news to him. "I haven't heard it," he said of the rumbles that are would include him in a deal for Chicago's Martin Havlat or Florida's Olli Jokinen. "But here, no one hears much of anything," Gionta said. "You can only go out and play. You can't worry about it. It's part of the game that you can't control and can't worry about."

Devil Fan
With the shootout, I never worry about Brodeur hitting thirty and he should be hitting 40 for the 3rd consecutive seasons.

Devils731
precisely why his wins record will likely be the first one to fall - but that is still many, many years in the future.
Triumph
The shootout adds about 5 wins a season, I'm guessing to goalies records, is there anyone who has had 25 wins in 12 seasons in a row? I have no idea but it might be interesting to find out. Edited February 14, 2008 by Triumph

SatansDevils
Yes, and very soon it will be 35 wins for 12 straight years too.Next season should be a banner year as career records for Wins, Minutes and Games Played are within reach. Not to mention some other magical record, currently at 103. Edited February 14, 2008 by SatansDevils
redruM
12 straight 30 wins season is amazing... the 6 and possibly 7 40 win seasons is jsut ridiculus!!! Marty is god like... and even for us lifer fans the devs w/out Marty is going to be very weird....

Sickman
The shootout has kind of made the 30 win season less meaningful but this record is amazing none the less. When you include the shootout, 35 wins a season is pretty much the standard for a strong season. But even when you consider the shootout, it is still hard to get wins for a goalie. Last year Marty got the 48 wins and even though this total was aided by shootouts, it's going to be very hard to reach that # for any goalie in this league. Marty has pretty much continued his stellar play from last season and he will be lucky if he gets to within 5 of last years record. So many things have to go right to reach that many wins. If his health holds up, I think Marty is going to continue to play even after his current contract is up. He plays a style that isn't that taxing on the body and 700 wins isn't out of the question for him, as long as the Devils stay good of course. As competitive as he is, something tells me he is going to set the bar so high for # of wins that nobody is going to be able to touch it. He always says wins are the most important thing to him so I cant see him wanting to let go of his record once he obtains it. And it will be a very long time before there is a goalie that comes around like him again to even challenge the record. NJTank99
Simply put Martin Brodeur is the best goalie ever.
