thelastonealive
http://njdevs.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45385 In an interview with MTV, Smith said he plans to adapt the late Warren Zevon's song "Hit Somebody" -- lyrics by Detroit Free Press columnist and schmaltzy author Mitch Albom, no less -- for the big screen. (Listen to the studio version here; the guy screaming "Hit Somebody!" is, in fact, your old pal Dave Letterman.) From MTV, where the following video can also be found: Smith is gunning to get the project going in 2010 or 2011, singling out the film from all his other projects as "the one I really want to do in a big, bad way." It will be set in the late 1970s within the World Hockey Association, before those teams were absorbed into the National Hockey League. "It takes place during the last gasp of the goon era of hockey when it was all about fighting," Smith said. While there will certainly be humor in the script, he envisions the film as being more dramatic in nature, and possibly entering into awards season chatter down the road. ...yes. GOD YES. Make it so, Mr. Smith. Make it so. Also, if you've never heard the source material, it's a cheesey but still awesome and underrated hockey song, check it out. From Zevon's "My Ride's Here" album, if I recall correctly.

Well, the character in the song dies at the end. Kind of a downer way to end a highlights video.
Prucenterrules
Well, the character in the song dies at the end. Kind of a downer way to end a highlights video. Not the whole song. Just like a part of it.

I didn't think that literally the last thing he saw was the flashing red light.
thelastonealive
Wait, he dies???I didn't think that literally the last thing he saw was the flashing red light. I always took it as a dual meaning, because in the next line he says "He saw that heavenly light"...I kind of took it to mean both the goal light that he had waited for and the light at death. Of course, I could be looking too much into it.

Man I hope he doesn't die, cause that would suck. I'm going to choose to interpret it in that he doesn't die cause it makes the song much more pleasant, but I can def see your reading of it. Devil Dan 56
I definitely always took it as he got knocked unconcious, not killed. "Heavenly light" as in, to him, it was heavenly to finally achieve his dream. Him dying would really trivialize his entire struggle to score. Also, this song always reminded me of Cam. Lot of heart, very little skill, hands of stone, etc. Only took Cam 80 somthing games though, haha.
Deke
It's Zevon, it probably means he died. Triva: David Letterman does backing vocals (well he yells HIT SOMEBODY!) in the song.

SC Devs Fan
Clerks is one of the most overrated movies I know of. I'm glad not only is he a Devils fan but is public about it; I still don't get the humor in his movies.

I'm glad not only is he a Devils fan but is public about it; I still don't get the humor in his movies. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but he did say he plans on making this one less humor based. I'd assume it will be less vulgar than his usual movies.
