Jas0nMacIsaac
To Anaheim - Schastlivy To Ottawa - Simpson Good trade for both teams IMO. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/arti...204_224308_3464
Jas0nMacIsaac
I think Ottawa wins this deal now...and if Simpson can play for Ottawa tomorow all the better. He is mean, tough and good defensivly. Apparently he and Nolan don't get along, now if only the Sens can get Ray out of retirement Ottawa will have enough toughness. Triumph
Yeesh. I hear Todd Simpson's been playing awful. Murray with a steal here even if Schastlivy turns out to be nothing. They must really think he's worthless to deal him for a 6th D who is UFA at end of season. Muckler is trying to import toughness, but where are Chris Neil and Shane Hnidy? Do they really need another tough guy, or do they need tough guys willing to stand up and fight? Edited February 5, 2004 by Triumph
insanity_gallops
Wow. Ottawa gets another veteran D presence; Anaheim gets another speedy winger with potential. Not likely, but I guess in theory this could clear up Ottawa to trade a defenseman to try and land someone like Bondra.

Simpson is tough and he has been playing bad in Anaheim, I say he turns his game around being on a playoff team. Ottawa needs guys to step up and fight for Spezza's and Hossa's on the team. Ottawa needs a fighter.
Jas0nMacIsaac
What Ottawa needs is a Leclerc/Morrow/Smyth type player on the left side. It will cost a dmen to get them though.
Jas0nMacIsaac
From what I am hearing this will also open a spot up for Langfeld who isa gritty pgysical forward which hd no room on the roster...all in all Ottawa gets tougher. DevilMinder
Simpson has been playing poorly lately. He isn't racking up that many penalty minutes if I remember correctly either.
insanity_gallops
Simpson has been playing poorly lately. He isn't racking up that many penalty minutes if I remember correctly either. Though for a brief stint, Ducks fans were calling him a goal-scoring machine! He was one of the few offensive bright spots during a stretch of dull play... oddly enough. EDIT: In his defense, in his last 20 games played he's been a +3 overall with 6 points (4G 2A) while seeing between 14-17 minutes of ice time. That's not too shoddy. NJDevs4978
Geez, first Schastivy was gonna go for Bondra, now he goes for essentially a goon defenseman? I know Ottawa wants to get tougher but gosh, these defensemen really are going for an arm and a leg this year (well except for Sydor amazingly enough, Tampa made a GREAT trade on that one). devilsrule33
Schastivly did trash. He played awful against New Jersey and has been doing that all year. No team was going to give much for him. Edited February 5, 2004 by devilsrule33
