Hi, I'm VALUE!
Report Here According to eye witness reports, Saito gave Misawa a "routine" back suplex that was described as a "7" in danger on a scale of one-to-ten. He did not get up. It was chaos in the ring as they attempted to revive him using CPR and the crowd was hushed for a while, and began a "Misawa" chant. He turned purple in the ring and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. His heart stopped beating in the ring. For those of you who don't know who this is in the wrestling world, Misawa is one of the people that pioneered the Japanese style of "King's Road" wrestling. He is widely considered to be 1/2 of the greatest matches in the history of wrestling, and what many call the Greatest Match in the 90's (vs. Kenta Kobashi if you want to YouTube it). I actually went out of my way to purchase two Japanese wrestling tapes just to see that Misawa/Kobashi match, and even though I don't get a single word of Japanese, it was one of the best matches I've ever seen. I'm going to dig up my tapes for one last run watching that match. RIP.

Satans Hockey
I've seen him wrestle in person, it was a treat to watch. R.I.P. That move doesn't seem like it would kill someone unless he was dropped straight onto his head, I wonder if he maybe had a heart attack. Either way its awful and the wrestler who performed the move must be a mess right now. Edited June 14, 2009 by Satans Hockey
RSC
I've seen some of his matches on youtube...he was amazing. RIP. And yeah, he had a heart attack, SH.
nmigliore
Why does it seem like so many wrestlers die? I guess it really takes a toll on their body Edited June 14, 2009 by nmigliore
CRASHER
Why does it seem like so many wrestlers die?I guess it really takes a toll on their body exactly 200 nights a year always on the road, no off-season... taking lord knows what to keep your physique and never really ever healing it's a rough life and the worst part is they ALL get addicted to competing! Hi, I'm VALUE!
or steriods and/or performance enhancing drugs. Unfair blanket statement. Yes, I'm 100% sure there are a lot of wrestlers that were/are on PED. But the culture of the business has changed to the point where PED's are not the answer anymore. The most mainstream examples are getting fired for drug policy violations, Chris Benoit, and the movie The Wrestler, but there are countless other examples of what happens when you abuse PED's (Curt Hennig, Eddie Guerrero, Crush, Test, perhaps Bret Hart, etc...) If there's a bigger blanket problem in wrestling, Jim Cornette sums it up nicely here. A small piece: So what has been the fallout of "hardcore" wrestling today? For the wrestlers, shorter careers, higher injury rates and painkiller addictions. The fans have been numbed to seeing people get hit with objects, so you have to hit someone THREE times as hard to get a THIRD of the response. This part is soooo true too though... how many times do we in my house yell at the guy for "Fagging out with the Lance Storm type chair shot" or getting the hands up too quick and making it look bad

RSC
http://www.gerweck.net/news/1245079952.shtml Misawa's death is now being attributed to a spinal cord injury from the suplex and not heart problems
Hi, I'm VALUE!
Misawa vs. Kawada - 6/3/94 Widely considered the "best match in wrestling" by "wrestling pundits" Pt 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUnIS83oIyQ Pt 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSKr6sZw-yg Pt 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebrZMYqXVKI Pt 4 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VV5KZZIM1g And if Misawa's death is due to the back suplex, I think NOAH is done, despite the fact that they amazingly have NO DEBT as an organization.
