Speaking of the Leafs, how secure is Ken Dryden as pres there? I remember seeing something about them also hiring a coach. Does that mean Quinn might become GM/President?
We might only be so lucky not to have to see his mug in the coaches box!
Thorne' job is more than just describing what he sees. He has to listen to feeds from engineers and producers at the same time as he is talking. He has to phase in intros for commercials, etc. It is not as easy as it looks.
He just isn't very good at it.
Milton Friedman, Thomas Mann, Zebulon Pike, and Philip Roth
Buttermilk Falls, Tillman Ravine, The Caranza Memorial, Apple Pie Hill.
Jockey Hollow, The Battles of Trenton, Princeton and Monmouth.
The list goes on and on and on.
He does fail to give credit to all the team players who sacrifice personal glory for the goal of winning championships. Pandolfo, Niedermeyer, Madden, could all be scoring 25 goals a year and be -10 at the end of the season, playing golf.
Mostly he doesn't connect the dots. It doesn't matter which side of the river the team plays. No city deserves the Cup, it has to be earned, and the PLAYERS have to give up a lot for the TEAM to earn it.
Too bad he isn't a Devils fan. I feel sorry for anyone who isn't.
I got a brother in law who calls my wife while we're at the games. He's watching in Houston, LMAO! He wanted to know if we were safe, because they were showing pictures of section 217. I had taken him to a game in the Toronto series a couple of years ago. Her's hooked too.
Keep spreading the word!
Was Pascal Rheaume on ANYONE's radar back in October? Do you think he even dreamt he would be in the building where the Stanley Cup finals were being played? And he winds up starting center! I know Lou gets these role players, but they have heart and skills no one else sees. Pando and Gionta, everyone could see their desire all season, no they don't get a lot of ink, but, like Brylin, they just go out there every day and play their asses off.
Clement described the Devils as blue collar. I know that there are no prima donnas on this team, just guys who want to win.
I see similarities to 1994. After a tough 7 game ECF series, the tired Rangers let an inferior Vancouver team push them to 7 games. NYR still takes the SCF. This year, the Devils were really tested by Ottawa, in another match of 1-2 conference teams. The Devils win the Cup tonight.
Jiggy has given up 15 goals in 45 games against what the media claim is an offensively challenged team. Can they have it both ways? Is he great or don't those 15 goals count against him for some reason? If the Devils are weak, how come they can score 15 goals against a "great goalie? Eithewr the Devils are one heck of a lot better than they goive credirt for, or Jiggy is just human.
I thought the SkyCam was good on one play- Madden's breakaway. The skycam loses the puck if there are any passes. That is a huge drawback.
As far as the ??analysis?? goes, well, we mightr as well have the three stooges.
The Devils defense was incredible last night. It wasn't the kind of scrappy checking and chasing they were doing against Ottawa, but timely poking the puck away from the front of the net, off Ducks' sticks in the neutral zone, or steals. Moments after I pointed out to my wife that ten minutes into the second period the Ducks didn't have a shot on goal, Anaheim finally managed to one off. You just can't shoot if you don't have the puck.
Great play.
