  1. Montreal = 2003 Wild. Hopefully that means the winner of the west = 2003 Devils
  2. They probably know that Lou hates it when his moves are mentioned in the media and are spreading it to guarantee Lou doesn't do it.
  3. Could someone please convince Єklund (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate) to make an update stating "The Devils are 100% guaranteed to NOT be trading either Rolston, Oduya, or Pandolfo."
  4. Instead of porn, Lou probably just closes his eyes and visualizes the words "status quo" bouncing around
  5. Hopefully Lou will ship Pando to Calgary so Sutter will be able to employ the "Pandolfo as LW of all 4 lines" strategy he probably would've used for the last month of the season and playoffs if he had stayed our coach
  6. The morning after Sutter is officially named coach of the Flames, he'll wake up and find the head of his favorite farm animal in his bed. Don't mess with Lou Unfortunately that may put a damper on Lou's search to find a new coach...
  7. Hopefully Brent convinces Darryl to trade for Pandolfo and Madden signs with them so their fans can experience the joys of line matching too.
  8. Yep. Thanks to Boston we're one step closing to seeing Lou hand out 50-year contract extensions and full no-movement clauses to the entire roster.
  9. They've mastered the whole pre-trade deadline "Look Lou! We're good enough to win the cup! Please don't make any trades", post-trade deadline "Psyche!!" thing. I wonder how long before Sutter receives a couple of sympathy kegs of 100% pure alcohol from Robinson and Julien, if he hasn't already.
  10. Got to love how he mentions Barry Melrose saying the same thing as if Melrose's word is law. Best laugh I've had in a while.
  11. Yep. I wouldn't be surprised if Lou is deliberately stalling out the negotiations so that he has an excuse for not signing anyone else tomorrow.
  12. This team has taken a disturbing amount of games off over the last two years, including pretty much the entirety of the second round both years, so this is hardly to blame on Sutter, although considering the team took games off with less strict coaches, I could easily see them using this as an excuse to take even more off. They took nights off when Lou was behind the bench for crying out loud, despite all the "He's the guy who signs our checks, so we'll all be playing extra hard!" crap they were giving to the media. As for Elias, if we want to see the passiveness go away, we might have to wait for him to get into the final year of his contract when he has to play for another one. People conveniently forget that part of it when talking about how good he was coming back from hepatitis. He was playing hard because he was an impending UFA and he wanted a big fat contract. He's got that contract now and he's already won a couple cups, what else could motivate him? Pride? If he had any, he wouldn't be playing like this now and certainly wouldn't have played like it last year when he was the captain.
  13. Bringing up the slow starts of the past few years is irrelevant. It reminds me of how a bunch of Yankees fans were all like "This is great news! Since 2001 whenever we win game 1 of the ALDS, we end up losing the series and every time we lose game 1, we end up winning it! We're guaranteed to win now!" after they lost game 1 to Cleveland a couple weeks ago. Yet you didn't see them before the same saying "We should forfeit this game because it'll guarantee we win this series while winning it would guarantee we lose it" If the team had won that game you wouldn't have seen them saying "Oh noes!one1 Now that we've won game 1 we're guaranteed to lose this series!" Likewise, saying the Devils started with similar records in 2006 and 2005, pretty much implying that you think it's guaranteed they'll get their acts together and make the playoffs is pointless. If the team was 9-0 you guys wouldn't be saying "Oh no! This hot start is bad news! We started poorly in 2005 and 2006 only to end up making the playoffs. Therefore this hot start means we're definitely going to miss them!" On top of that, it's rather selective. Are you people implying that they'll make the playoffs because they did it in 2005 and 2006 also implying that they'll lose in the second round and have no chance at the cup? Can't just take the parts you like. If this beginning is just like 2005 and 2006, then I guess the ending will be too. On an unrelated note, anyone else notice how the same people saying "You're spoiled for expecting to win all the time!" are the same people saying "How dare you not think this team has a chance to win every game!" ? Just saw a bunch of that at hfboards
  14. My problem with the site is that the mods fall on one extreme of the sports moderator spectrum. On one side, you've got the nazi mods. Example: pretty much every single Red Sox mod. They'll ban you if you don't think everything regarding the team is perfect or if you fail to add a thousand Hail Papis to your posts. Pretty much what would happen if any of the "If you don't think everything regarding the Devils is perfect and say anything bad about the team even if they've lost a billion consecutive games by the score of 1,000,000 to 0 then you're not a fan!" people were ever made a moderator. On the other hand, and this is where the HF Devils board falls in, you've got the moderators who go so far out of their way to prove to fans of other teams that they're not nazis, that they almost end up being nazis to their own fans. If you're a fan of another team and hate the Devils, you can trash the team all you want on that board and not only will you not get banned, but your post won't be locked or deleted as long as fans of other teams are posting in it, but once Devils fans show up to defend themselves, only then will one of the mods conveniently show up and say "Uh-oh this has gone too far" which translates to "Uh-oh, Devils fans are defending themselves. Can't have this board looking inhospitable to other teams' fans even if the only ones who would visit this board are haters who never post anything intelligent" It's a shame too, because the mods there are otherwise rather intelligent and are some of the few people on that site who aren't total homers. For an even worse example of mods on that end of the spectrum, see the Tampa Buccaneers official board. Loaded with fans of practically every other team in the NFC and all of them know they've pretty much got diplomatic immunity. Regarding this topic, Lou works in mysterious ways. After the Arnott trade, I don't think I'll be totally shocked by any trade he decides to make. That being said, if he does any of the trades Єklund (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate) has been proposing, I'd check his Kool-aid to see if someone had tampered with it.
  15. Seems to me that he's thinking that the new arena curiosity factor will result in all home games being sold out regardless of whether or not the team is any good. Therefore, if the arena is going to be selling out every game anyway, why bother spending on free agents when you can keep the team near the salary floor and maximize profits?
  16. I'll try to lighten the mood and amuse myself with a rumor of my own: "Rumor- Devils to sign Nets Legend Yinka Dare Sources exclusive to us have confirmed that Devils GM Lou Lamoriello is in negotiations to lure former New Jersey Nets player Yinka Dare out of retirement. Yinka, who averaged an astounding 1 point per game in his historic NBA career, would be a major coup for the Devils GM, who feels Yinka would fill all the teams' holes. "Yeah I'm working on it. Once he's signed I'll be able to rip up the contracts of all our other players. Yinka is all we'll need to contend for the cup." When asked about the league's salary cap floor and whether or not Yinka's salary would be more than the NHL league minimum, Lou added "Salary cap floor? League minimum? Yinka will be paid a total of $1 spread out over the span of 5 billion years. It's a bit steeper than I was hoping for, but what the hell. You only live once and I'm feeling rather saucy today."
  17. Someone needs to send Lou a Howler.
  18. If you ever see a new story with the headline: "Scott Niedermayer kicked in groin, no damage done" then odds are it was me that did it
  19. Lou forfeited those rights in favor of the best parking space at the NHL draft
  20. All the other GMs should just stop what they're doing , get together and agree to forfeit the cup to Carolina now.
