    mmmmm...curious

It also depends on whether it's in analog or digital mode. Analog eats the battery more than anything else. It should say in the manual how long it should hold a charge for in both. -Dan

    Classic Rock

Here's some of my thoughts on some of the bands you guys have gone over... CSN(Y) - Best harmony/musical talent combination I've heard. Not only are they all really gifted singers, they all complimented each other so well. PLUS, they were all really good musicians! I was never a solo fan of any of them, but put them together and it's GOLD! Deja Vu (the album) is a must have for anyone who's interested in their music - the whole album is great! Led Zeppelin - AWESOME! Simply awesome. My two favorite bands growing up were Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd (which I will get to next). I haven't gotten the latest release (the live one) but my brother said it's phenomenal! There really aren't any songs from Zep you could say was filler. I mean, yeah there's filler between big hits, but like the Beatles every song has its merits. Pink Floyd - I've got a LOT of years invested into Floyd... Here's my thoughts. First off, Dark Side is the best album EVER. Period. There's not one other album that stands together as well as Dark Side and sounds so well with all the segues and transitions. The songs are all great musically and it's just perfect the way it was made. Earlier Floyd (Syd Barrett days) is interesting to say the least. They're definitely not the "Dark Side" or "Wish You Were Here" Floyd, they're the "Let's take some acid and freak out for a while" Floyd. The early albums are definitely an aquired taste, but you can see how things started to evolve into their prime form. Syd's solo stuff is the early Floyd with 10X more acid, a really aquired taste. For some reason, the post-Waters days never really appealed to me. It just seemed like they really lost that "edge" that made them Pink Floyd. They could never bring it all together and really create the awesome stuff they used to. Here's a list of must have's for all: - Dark Side of the Moon (nuff said) - Wish You Were Here (The entire album ROCKS!) - Animals (This is the sleeper album (in a good way) - No one thinks of this one when they think great albums, but it's right up there with the best) - Meddle (the album's pretty tame - great tunes but nothing crazy, except Echoes which is one of their best songs ever) - Atom Heart Mother (A lot of people don't like this album, but I think the title track just sounds awesome!) There's a really good Floyd book called Saucerful of Secrets if anyone wants to read up on the history of the band. It's got from the Syd days straight through to the '90s. Great read! ALSO!!! If you ever want to see the greatest Floyd cover band (sounds better then the beat-up Floyd of 94), go see The Machine. They are absolutely awesome! Each show has different songs, so do a little research before you go to see the one you want. I saw them last year and it was their "Entire Wall Album" night. Absolutely AMAZING! They also played encores of something off Division Bell (no offense, but I couldn't stand most of that album), "Dogs" (oh, my!), "One of these Days" and "Bike" (for the hardcores)! "Dogs" alone was about 20 mins and great every single second. Sorry about the little Floyd rant, just a lot to say (and that's the abridged version!). -Dan
  3. A thought came to me last night in a rage of caffeine induced insomnia... The only way to hurt the players association would be for the owners to put another product on the ice. And we, as fans, support it. The owners make money, the fans get some hockey and the players might actually feel pressure to resolve this. The problem is for years the players have been making TONS of money while the owners have been paying TONS of money. The players know they could last longer without income. We need to give the owners a bargaining chip to tell the NHLPA that they could wait forever and maybe an interim league would be the way to do that (unfortunately). Not the best solution in the world, but somehow the players are going to need to get a HUGE ego check in order to get this resolved. -Dan
  4. The only problem with any kind of action this association could take is it can ONLY hurt the owners. Once a player gets a contract he gets that money no matter how many fans are in the stands or anything else the consumers do or don't do. Unfortunately, there's really nothing we as fans can do to the players. -Dan

    Well wishes to Pat Burns

I think what would be best is for someone to pick up a PO box for a month or so (not sure if they do it that way) where all the cards could be sent. It's a much more personal thing when you receive something hand-written, not typeface from a printer. Then all sent to the secret address. If I were Burns, I certainly would not want my address to be known, much less distributed. Just a thought. -Dan
  6. AND it would be a great bargaining chip when signing Scott... -Dan
  7. Marty - I think he played injured from well into the regular season and didn't take the time off he should have to recover. Something's just not right about the way he looked out there.

    Game 5 Score predictions

10-8 in sudden death quadruple overtime. Pando shoots the puck so hard the league decrees that it must be worth 2 goals. -Dan
  9. Here's my (extremely) fast and (awfully) weak attempt at how Deep Blue would look in this series: Granted he's only 8 years old, but he weighs 1.4 tons, so I think he'd do fine... -Dan EDIT: That first version was bad... Even for me...

Brodeur's Struggles With Puck Come to Pass Devils Find Themselves On the Brink Of Extinction Brodeur Recalls a Game He'd Just as Soon Forget Play of Flyers' Rookie Goalie Is the Difference Those headlines aren't from todays paper... They're from 2000. Anything sound familiar? This exact situation happened in 2000. The Flyers are bigger, they're stronger... Blah, blah, blah. Lindros this... Primeau that... Blah, blah, blah. This Devils team can beat ANYONE when it plays the way we all know it can. Two days off for a team everyone says is tired could be new life. No more soft passes... No more tired legs... No more weak goals (Marty)... Just good positional, DEVILS hockey. Win Game 5 ==> Win Game 6 on adrenaline alone ==> Win Game 7 to finish the job. -Dan
  11. BRYLIN!!! Apparently he is forgotten about easily! A lot of Devils are still around, so we know first hand that it can be accomplished. All we need to do is suit up a big D (see BROWN, Albelin, White) and Niedermayer better start leading this damn team. Nothing pissed me off more tonight than his lacidaisical (sp?) play. -Dan

Game 2 could be the series

I love the Philthydelphia comment. Do you realize that your beloved Devils play on garbage that's been dumped there since NY City was found? When exactly was NY lost? -Dan

    Devils Blank Rangers

They showed a replay on the clipping call. He did drop down to one knee to get under Madden. It was really quick, but the right call. With a few games left and down by 5, I'm not surprised that Jagr wasn't pressing. There's really no reason (other than pride) for him to be hustling towards the end. He's not fighting to leave a good impression for a roster spot next season like the rest of the team. That line was buzzing when it was 0-0, but as it slipped away, so did the effort. -Dan

    Nurminen

Ooopsey... Yeah, but you got my drift, though... -Dan (who is apparently not an master of the opera at 11AM...)

    Nurminen

Carmen == Aida Cartman == South Park Sheeps - If you watch the replay, his arms were down as far as they could go without slouching over. There must have been a 1.5' difference between Gionta and half the Atlanta team. While it was interference and a cheap shot, I don't think it was a suspendable offense. As for Nurminen, I don't recall us really bumping into him (or at least nothing out of the norm as a hockey game) to begin with. He was chopping away all night. The whole game I was just hoping that no one was going to get hurt from their cheap-shotery. -Dan
  17. How about no point system and go by wins only. You don't win, you get nothing! Ties will exists only as a non-win. I think overtime would REALLY open up then. -Dan
  18. It wasn't much of chop to Turco. The guy was going for a deflection while a defenseman was trying to tie him up. It looked like an accident when I saw it. Turco really overreacted. Turco's was a REAL chop which, if he landed it better, could have done serious damage. Definitely not what Dallas needed. -Dan

    This is getting ridiculous

I agree about TB peaking early. In 2001-2, we went 14-4 to finish out the season and had a quick exit. It really doesn't matter what the wins/losses is going into the playoffs as long as your team is playing sound. Tonight we played to a 1-1 tie (minus a really flukey goal) against the best team in hockey! TB is a bitch to play and forecheck like madmen and we still got our chances. Granted, not as many as against a team like Florida, but we got our chances. I think we look pretty good going into the playoffs. We have the experience. We've been up against killer teams in the past (see Ottawa). We've done it before. We know how to win. Period. Race to 16 wins. They don't call it the second season for nothing. -Dan
  20. Marshall's been a -8 since early December, so he's been even since then. I think Burns hopes Hrdina will get the idea through his head that he has to fight for a roster spot one this team and hopefully he'll pick up his game. I think he's just making him earn his ice time. -Dan
  21. Remember also that he's coming off a knee injury which, in many cases, aren't fully 100% for months if not years. I think that's got a lot to do with his drop-off this year. He's doing a hell of a job on the checking line, but that might be holding him back a bit. I think he's gonna snap out of his funk, but it may take a long time injury free to get him anywhere near where everyone expects him to be offensively. -Dan
  22. Kozlov is in his 3rd game after being out for a long time. That's usually where everyone says that you run into a wall conditioning-wise. Give hime another week or so and I think he'll be flying again. White is just returning to his useless self. He did have a few hits, but he's playing very tentative right now. Madden was great, but please tell me why he turned towards the Devils' zone and passed it directly to a Canadien (while we were on a PK)? Albelin is the new Daneyko. He may sit if we go deep into the playoffs for fresher legs, but he's a steady and reliable stay-at-home defenseman who knows his job well. I think the team played a hell of a game and a few costly turnovers were the difference. -Dan
  23. It's amazing how big he is! He looks like Mike Rupp.. except still on his skates... and controlling the puck... and generally doing something other than falling down... Honestly I loved Rupp, but he was too big to be doing nothing out there. And what a sweet backhand, through skates pass tonight. Kozlov - Rupp with skill... -Dan
  24. I think what Stubbs was remembering is why they changed from home colors to road colors. The whites were impossible to keep clean while toting them all over the place while the colors just got a little deeper. Right Stan story, wrong decade. -Dan
  25. I think I remember Chico or Doc saying something interesting right after the switch. With the home whites, you got to see all the different color away jerseys instead of every visiting team basically wearing white. So instead of every home game being us in white against the blue Blues or the red Red Wings now it's red vs. (basically) white all the time. Kinda boring. I tend to agree. -Dan
