I would agree with this 100%. You are already going to a ton of games over a very short period of time. Skip 1 and enjoy Montreal. It's a great city and awesome hockey atmosphere. That is 1 stop I would definitely do whatever I could to make on this epic trip you are planning. Tickets won't be cheap, but it's worth it.

I admittedly don't know enough about these players to have a true preference. I just hope whoever we select turns into the true No. 1 center we desperately need. Basically saying the Devils will hold onto the pick, unless they don't. Brilliant insight from Dreger!

I love these "experts" saying Shero is listening to offers for the pick. Of course he is. That's his job. It's not like McDavid or Matthews is at the top of the draft and there is basically nothing that could be offered to make him trade the pick. The only GM he immediately hangs up the phone on once he realizes who is on the line is Jeff Gorton from the Rags. This is all fun for discussion, but I don't think there's a chance we trade this pick. Shero has also said that they have made their decision on the pick. It will be interesting to see if word leaks out who it is before the draft starts.

I was thinking the same thing. Doesn't seem to fit our most pressing need unless we then move out Henrique for a D.

I would like to see the Devils try to pry Nate Schmidt out of Vegas. Not sure what it would take, but that could be a good pickup as we revamp or D.

I'm not saying Vegas would make that move. In fact, I said they wouldn't do it because of the 2018 1st being included as it is likely they will have one of the worst records in the league next season. However, if they want that pick, which will have us move down 5 spots in a "weak" draft, then they would need to overpay if I was Shero. It was just my opinion on it. If they move up to 3, it makes it harder to say no to that kind of offer. The Devils obviously have a lot of holes to fill and having 3 picks in the top 20 could go a long way. I guess it would depend on how high they are on the second tier of players outside of Nolan and Nico. Ultimately, I think I would pass on it as I think these 2 centers are exactly what this organization needs and I would take the quality over quantity in this instance.

The only way I would do the deal is if Vegas gives us #6, and either #15 or 17, plus their #1 pick in 2018. It will never happen because they would balk at giving up the 2018 1st, but that is the kind of overpayment I would need to make the deal.

Don't get me wrong, Harris would definitely be involved in the conversation. But at the end of the day I don't think he would veto Ray on a pure hockey decision like that.

The floatie like armbands are still too thick, but it looks a little better with the 2 black stripes instead of the white. No matter what thouh, it will always look like an unfinished/practice jersey without the striping at the waist.

I don't think Harris is involved in the decision making or going to veto Ray on any hockey decision unless it comes to him spending money. And this is exactly how an owner should be.

There is no way Shero is taking Makar at #1. If he does, he should be fired immediately ... not because Makar is a bad player, but because he could easily trade out of that spot and accumulate assets while moving down the draft board to 3 or 4 to get him. That said, if we pass on the opportunity to draft a 1C in either Nico or Nolan, I would be shocked.

I'm starting to like the jersey re-design. Not because of the way they look - they are still ugly AF - but because of the hilarity in some of the comments being posted and the fact that this forum has had the most activity in over 3 years since the launch.

I will start by saying it will never happen (too many moving parts). However, my NHL 17 GM brain was thinking that same thing today. Philly gets 1 of the unprotected goalies they want, #6, and a pick (or 2) from Vegas for #2. The Devils agree to select Nico at #1 and get a pick or player from the expansion list that they want from Vegas, and Vegas gets Nolan, who they really covet. I would do that in a heartbeat, but it only works if Vegas thinks that there is a real shot we draft Nolan at #1 and can work out a deal with Philly first.

I posted this in the Poll thread, but wanted to put it here in case some haven't yet seen the full uniform mockup.

Considering our entire fanbase is probably 150 people total, then 48 would be a significant %. In all seriousness, my ticket rep said that her account "blew up" (her words) this morning with complaints about this, but whatever you want to guesstimate is fine with me.

I thought the twitter thing was actually funny. I guess emotions were running high and it rubbed people the wrong way, but I didn't think it was being disrespectful to fan in any way. I sent my email this morning to my ticket rep, Weber, and O'Neil voicing my displeasure in a calm and reasoned manner. It may do jack sh!t at the end of the day, but at least I said my piece. Hopefully they are bombarded with similar emails so they understand that they made a mistake with this and attempt to correct it in a year or 2.

I have to say, I was firmly in Team Nolan's camp after we won the draft lottery, and still voted for him here. However, I am almost at the point of switching to Team Nico who just seems to fit what Shero is trying to build here more than Nolan does.

This is me as well. Couldn't have sad it better. Exactly. It's awkward looking with the wide stripes on the sleeves and socks, and is too plain with the lack of the hem striping. Looks like a simple practice jersey to me. They could have done so much better with minor tweaks to our standard template, but of course they blew it. It never ceases to amaze me how out of touch the business side of this organization is with their fanbase.

I will never buy this jersey. They are not the worst thing in the world, as at least they kept the color combo and crest the same. But they are plain, and awkward looking to me. Plus, I saw a full uniform mockup and the large stripes on the socks looks even worse than on the jersey. The best part is the inside of the collar, and you can't ever see it. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but I knew the team and Adidas would find a way to F this up and they didn't disappoint. I just love the explanation behind the design elements that they gave. Still can't over what a load of BS that was. Surprised the idiot that designed them didn't see all of the HS jerseys hanging on the wall and decide to incorporate elements from them into the jersey as well. But it could be worse, we could be Vegas or Nashville - those are terrible. I think I'm up for a STH tenure jersey this season, and am going to ask my rep to give me the old jersey rather than the new ones. Otherwise they can keep them or I can give the new version to my dog as a blanket/chew toy.

That is f'ing terrible. Change for change sake. Just plain ugly IMO. A single stripe at the bottom to honor our heritage in Newark? How about the 3 hem stripes to honor our 3 cup championships won with the old jersey. Needless to say, I will never purchase one of these. Hopefully this front office does a better job with its pick on Friday than they did here.

I know nothing about Mueller, other than he is a former first round pick. I hope he pans out, but I don't have the same great feeling about it as I did after we traded for Palmeri a few years ago. It will be interesting to see if we make any trades with Vegas for 1 of the defensemen left exposed. I think Minny, NYI and ANA gave up their firsts so Vegas doesn't take the good players they left exposed. Therefore, I'm looking at Nate Schmidt from the Caps. Left D, good skater and puck mover. Not a huge offensive D, but a top 4 guy. Might be a nice pickup, but I could see the price from him being high and I don't know if he would be worth our second+ in this draft.

At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter who Vegas takes off our roster. None of them are going to be a big loss, although I would rather keep Merrill over all others left exposed.
