  1. I voted sixth...I was tempted to go fifth because I'm not a big believer in Boston but they have been playing well and more consistently well than us and Raycroft's given them great goaltending. I see us kind of treading water for the rest of the season; we're still a good bit up on the Isles and Habs, but with the way we've been playing I can't see us passing/staying ahead of anyone else.
  2. I'm amazed there aren't more of these incidents to be honest, I mean gosh after almost every loss in every city you can turn into talk radio and hear some fan whining or complaining. If all the athletes took it personally there wouldn't be any fans left because the players would get so incensed and then that would get the fans more incensed and so the cycle continues
  3. Apples and oranges. Well, the Red Wings and the Tigers ARE owned by the same guy, and he spends less on the baseball team than he does on the hockey team (though he just gave Pudge a silly deal).
  4. Well obviously you meant well sheeps, but 22nd is not really 'getting better' - that's like saying the Rangers are getting better because they won their last game. We have had a lot of weekend/rivalry games lately. Lou made the point in the pregame last night (a good interview BTW) that more matinees would be good for attendance - and one side effect of having their own arena now BTW is that they can pick and choose dates more and not have to share with the Nets. And the fact that Boston's attendance is just as lousy is just as much of an indictment as our bad attendance. After all, they have no other teams in their area to speak of, we have two (Rangers and Philly) - three if you count the Isles. They have a much bigger fanbase and a relatively new arena. Obviously it is partly a protest of the owner and his penny-pinching ways but it's still a dissapointment from their end.
  5. Zero and 110 are still hanging around; since they're both pretty much lurkers, I don't know much about either of them to know whether they have a chance head-up against Derek. But even with four months to go, it doesn't look like anyone else will have a chance at the grand prize unless all three of their computers have a major wipe out
  6. Which is why I never let waste Modano (who's STILL stinking, but fortunately I've only played him once in two months anyway) go As ticked off as I was when he stunk for me I would have been twice as ticked if he turned around and did great for someone else. Although I may have to dump him if per chance one of my Boston centers get hurt and he's still not playing any better cause my insurance policy (Bonk) is pretty much gone.

    I predict...

Well I kind of agree with both sides on Larry. Did he 'deserve' to be fired? Not really, in the sense that he won a Cup and came as close as possible in the two seasons that he finished. Was there good enough reason to fire him, though? Yeah, unfortunately after 2001 and with the way the team sleepwalked through the first 50 games of 2002 it became obvious that he had lost the team. Can't trade all the players (or at least Lou couldn't at that time, he did trade a lot of them afterwards though) so firing the coach is usually option A, deserved or not.

    Sub forums

Yeah...and since I commented in this thread, I'll offer up my own ideas: First, I think there are quite a few forums that are similar to one another. River Rats and Prospects are almost the same thing. Heaven and the Devil players fan club are similar as far as I can see, except that the posts in the second folder are zanier because PK basically is the only one to start threads there . So are Site FAQ's and Board Issues. Not that combining them will really alleviate the problem but it might just make it a little easier to remember what to post what in and a little less intimidating to look at. Also I think the Newark folder will outlive its usefulness in a week or so, but I understand a lot of you like it so maybe I'm wrong. Seems to me as if there won't be much new news now for a while since they've come to a deal though. Oh and I think Don's pretty much right about the source of the traffic increase

I do like the new trades folder and the Trivia one's really worked out well cause of Don's contest, but overall I agree there are way too many new folders to read...I used to read every thread without a problem in 45 minutes now I spend 45 minutes and barely get through half the posts and that's on a good day.
  11. YOU'VE BEEN SAYING IN YOUR SIG FOR MONTHS NOW!!! THAT'S LIKE NEWARKDEVIL5 SAYING HE'D LIKE THE DEVILS TO MOVE TO NEWARK!!! There's nothing like being redundant. Don's got a point

    I predict...

Honestly though, how can Lou justify firing Burns less than a season after winning the Cup and still like ten games or more over .500? Even if there is some truth to what HOI posted a couple days ago and Burns crossed the line, Lou's not going to make that public. And by not making it public, if he fires Burns he's going to be thought of as so trigger-happy people might start to shy away from working for him, even with the fact that he wins. So how can he possibly fire Burns? I know the team sucks right now and this is the longest period of suckage in at least three years...but I'd bet on a big trade (and by big I'd say Rafalski, Gomez or Friesen - or two of them) before I bet on Burns getting fired. Besides, there's no replacements for him...Johnny Mac, well he was a shooter and he can't teach these guys to shoot straight so that doesn't bode well for him. Carps similar thing, he won faceoffs but can't seem to teach it. Ftorek? Hell no, he's right where he belongs. The only in-season replacement is Larry and we all know how skittish he can be about wanting to coach, plus there's still half the team around from when he got fired in 2002.
  13. Thing is, the team hasn't been playing well for two months really, other than the 7 wins in 9 games just before the Vancouver game before the All-Star break. Since then they've given up 21 goals in 7 games I think after tonight at the very least, most of us need a glass of the Kool-Aid. Some of us need a gallon though

    John Madden

The Devils have sucked at EVERYTHING more after Stevens got hurt...thing is the suckage started with him in the lineup and has increased. Madden's got to pick it up, same as everyone else. We have three injuries (Stevens, Schwab and Bergy) but it's almost as if we have four cause Madden's been so damn ineffective lately. Then again he was about as bad in 2001.
  15. Geez dr that's like the second or third time time you sent them in the last second, what do you save your PMs and send them later in case you want to change something? (Note to self: maybe I should try that, cause I have wanted to change a couple after sending it) Heh...hard to believe Belfour went undrafted too. I was tempted to say undrafted for #1 cause obviously Madden and I vaguely remember hearing CuJo was too. #7 is kind of funny
  16. Frigging wonderful. The two weakest teams we've played all year are the Pens when they started Aubin (their third string goalie) and now a Caps team that was already next to last and now has no Jagr or Bondra. Well we know what happened in the Pen game and it's now 3-1 tonight. I can't even muster up any real anger, I'm just shaking my head at this one.
  17. The Post specializes in contreversy at best and trash at worst though so I doubt they'd care what anyone thought of (N)Єverson, in fact they've probably been encouraging him to be a doofus. Although if you want to play devil's advocate maybe he's got a partner for the time being as punishment for being so ridiculously wrong on the Marty being hurt one (or was that Brooks?). Surely can't be because the article was so strenuous for one person to type - it was only four paragraphs
  18. Agreed, we have so many other needs right now Gonchar isn't even worth considering. The Devils have three offensive defensemen (even if Raf doesn't look like much of one lately) unless you want to trade Martin in the deal and no thanks.
  19. Yeah saying she wasn't any good as a kicker...as if that has anything to do with this? Barnett is a jerk for saying that.
  20. What do the Avalanche have to do with our conference? I meant CONFERENCES.. sorry about that hasan... don't be so picyune.. You know you always do this, every time you get caught in a mistake (which is a lot) you either claim you're misunderstood, or say we're being too picky. Why should we care how Colorado's doing in the regular season anyway? They're not in our conference...they're going to make the playoffs.
  21. What do the Avalanche have to do with our conference?
  22. Oh wonderful I had to get cute and pick up Sauve in the fantasy league cause this 'looked' like a cheap win and my Devil goalie hasn't been doing too well lately. That's the last time I do that this year, now I'm just gonna stick with the Devil goalie(s?) come hell or high water even if Marty plays the next 15 games and gives up 3 goals a game sammy, Sauve was actually 7-4-3...I think he was unbeaten in his last 7 starts too. So much for that too.
  23. Well people did want to see Lawrence Frank go to 10-0 and set an NBA record for best start to an NBA career It is funny that attendance actually has gone UP for the Nets since the move announcement, then again it's probably a combo of they'd better get to games now before the move and the fact that the team's winning again. Geez, how did this thread get to 250 posts
  24. Well that's what happens when you a team scores so many PP goals...Zidlicky had the five assists and was a -2 But my team's over a plus 20 so I can live with that so long as he keeps getting me those points
