Neb00rs
He plays marginally better in the playoffs than in the regular season, especially the last few years. No way in hell do I think Cory is a better goaltender that Quick. If he gets 1 more cup, hes in the conversation with top goalies in history including our own Marty Brodeur Wait...you just completely flipped the script here. Louismydad
Wait...you just completely flipped the script here. How exactly? I said in my original post that Quick is much better in the playoffs than in the regular season. I stuck to that.
Neb00rs
How exactly? I said in my original post that Quick is much better in the playoffs than in the regular season. I stuck to that. You said, "Quick is a prime example of why you are wrong in stating that "the best goalies during the season are the best in the playoffs. Quick is a perfect example of why I am right. Then you said, "He plays marginally better in the playoffs than in the regular season, especially the last few years." The opposite has been true the last couple years. Now you are saying, "Quick is much better in the playoffs than in the regular season." Edited February 27, 2015 by Neb00rs
Louismydad
Neb00rs, I think we had a miscomunication. I agree that Quick has very good playoff numbers. He does not however play that well in the regular season. That was my argument to your first post about goalies not being different in the post vs regualr seasons
Neb00rs
Furthermore, in last years playoffs the top goalies (min. 10 GP) were Rask, Lundqvist, and Price. The year before it was Rask, Quick, and Lundqvist. The year before that it was Quick, Smith, Holtby, Lundqvist. I'd say that's pretty on par with the regular season's best goalies. (side note: in 2011-12, the goalie who led the playoffs in save pct. with no minimum games played was none other than Mr. Cory Schneider at .960 in 3 GP ). But the point stands in my stats above. The best goalies in the reg. season are best in the playoffs, albeit probably a slight re-ranking. In last years SCF Quick did not let in a goal in the third period of any game(if my memory serves correct). Thats amazing. He also played subpar in the regular season. Now, lets look at MAF, career regular season numbers are good(on mobile so i cant look up right now). Then we look at post season, actually we dont even have to look because everyone and their mother knows he sucks in the playoffs. Its a while nother game in the playoffs man

Neb00rs
Here are the top 4 goalies in the playoffs the last 4 seasons: Tuukka Rask 34 GP 1.92 0.936 Braden Holtby 21 GP 2.04 0.931 Henrik Lundqvist 57 GP 2.03 0.930 Jonathan Quick 64 GP 2.01 0.928 2 of those 4 have been Vezina winners in the past four years, 3 of the 4 have been nominees, and after this year it will be 4 of 4 as long as Holtby doesn't have a collapse. MadDog2020
A good GM would always open an ear to an offer, sure. If, let's say, Carolina offered up Jeff Skinner, Cam Ward, and a 1st rounder, I would do it. Why not.
hystyk28
I have been saying this since we acquired him. The return would have to be complete over payment and one that could net the team at least 2 top line players. Take out the rivalry and the divisional issues, but if the Flyers offered Giroux and Voracek, you have to make that trade. You always listen to offers. GM's get crazy, when the heat is on. I'd keep an eye on EDM. They are feeling the heat.Hall Draisaitl and a 1st? I think you take it. The return is great and you have IMHO a solid goalie in Kinkaid. I really like Kinkaid's footwork and puck playing ability. He could be a very good goalie in this league. This is why Lou should make sure he isn't able to go to FA this year. They need to play him to prevent him going FA and to see what he has. All that being said, I believe that Kinkaid could be dealt before the draft in a much larger package. If everyone here wants to keep watching a team full of 3rd liners score 2 a night, then by all means, let's keep Schneids. With a competent goalie back there, a young defense that is mobile, and some decent firepower added to Cammo, Henrique, Zajac this team would be playoff bound. Sure Schneids is an elite goaltender- but you have to give to get. It's funny how all those short side/bad goal posters from earlier in the season suddenly wouldn't trade him no matter what.
