Weekes Head
Thu Sep 2 2004 - Brian Rafalski will return to action tonight for the Americans' World Cup game against the Russians. He missed Team USA's opening game of the tournament against Canada due to a strained groin muscle. Unfortunately, we won't be able to see Ovechkin, but hey -- guess that's good news for the Americans, eh? Go USA!!!!1one

Haven't heard anything about him. At least we have Raffy back though, that should be a big boost for USA.
Derek21
Well, Modano is expected to be a go for Team USA. So, that's good news. I'm glad Rafalski will be in there to help out the attack from the blueline. I think this will be a very exciting game.

Desert Devil
Anyone else get the feeling that our defensemen had a little too much vodka before the game? I've never seen Leetch or Chelios look so tentative.

Don
HA! Afiniganov slips and the refs call Miller. Maybe you guys ARE right about the shoddy referring.
Desert Devil
I think the refs are getting all the bad calls out of their system now in case there's no season.

Devils731
Kozlov played a really good period for Russia. -Scott
Don
Hard to find a Russian that didn't play a good period. Wow. You guys play a decent 2nd and 3rd periods, but your first periods are LOUSY. At least Esche is standing on his head to hold it at 0-0.
Don
GOAL! CHELIOS! 1-0! Edit: Beauty of a pass by Modano to tie things up 1-1. PP goal. Edited September 3, 2004 by Don
David Puddy
Rafalski seems to be back to form. He can hold the puck in again!
Don
Rafalski seems to be back to form. He can hold the puck in again! Yes, Brian is playing very, very well tonight. He's foiled some players 1-1 as well as moved the puck well. There are too many "wells" in that paragraph. Oh well.
bruins4777
what no. is ralfaksi?? afinigenov looks AWSOME. but not kovalchuk good. i'm a little disappointed with sammy(samsonov). brygaolozv(sp?) is looking good too i like how this guy plays. to me he plays like shields but without the anticipation, mental, and in ability to use his glove. Sarge18
Really good hipcheck by Rafalski on Yashin, he must be feeling better cause he broke up a 2 on 1 right afterward when Leetch turned over the puck. The Americans look old and slow, especially the defense. Its time for some new Blood all around. Get guys like Hull and Chelious off the ice. THey are adding nothing.
