Predators LW Johansson out 2-4 weeks with separated shoulder

November 30, 2002

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - The Nashville Predators, who have the least wins and fewest goals in the NHL, will be without leading scorer Andreas Johansson for the next two to four weeks.

Johansson suffered a separated right shoulder when he was checked into the boards by New Jersey defenseman Colin White in the third period of Friday's 2-1 loss.

Signed as a free agent in the offseason, Johansson has scored 12 of Nashville's 44 goals this season and also has eight assists. The left wing had 14 goals and 10 assists in 70 games with the New York Rangers last season.

The Predators have just won three of their first 22 games (3-11-4-4)

Nashville loses leading scorer Johansson for up to month

November 30, 2002

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Team-leading scorer Andreas Johansson will miss up to a month for the Nashville Predators because of a separated shoulder.

The left wing was hurt Friday night in a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils and is expected to be out two-to-four weeks. ADVERTISEMENT

Johansson was held up along the boards by Joe Nieuwendyk and was hit by Colin White.

``It was a clean hit by White, but I have a problem with Nieuwendyk grabbing A.J. around the neck and straightening him out. I didn't get the memo between periods about the rules being changed,'' Predators coach Barry Trotz said.
