msweet
LINK November 17, 2005 -- Columbus was believed to have had interest in Devils forward Viktor Kozlov before opting to trade for Anaheim's Sergei Fedorov instead. Kozlov (illness) sat out the Devils' 4-1 loss in Buffalo on Tuesday, which ended their two-game winning streak, both over Washington. The Devils haven't won three straight this season. Alexander Mogilny missed his second straight game with a concussion, and it seems unlikely he will be ready this weekend, when the Devils face Montreal and Ottawa. * The Capitals sent goaltender Frederic Cassivi back to Hershey of the AHL yesterday, signaling that starter Olie Kolzig is ready to return after missing three games with a hamstring injury. Kolzig is healthy and will travel with the Capitals for their game tonight at Buffalo, the team said. Cassivi was called up from Hershey last week and made one appearance for the Capitals, in a 4-3 loss to the Devils on Friday. That was his ninth NHL game. sundstrom
who was it that said that there was a scout in the arena specifically looking at kozlov? moving him as a salary dump is a terrible mistake.

UnderDogX
The rumor had to have started because a Columbus scout was at the Caps Devils game and did say he needed a good sized center with good hands (there was a radio interview with the scout during one of the intermissions that I happen to catch)...obviously anyone who knows the Devils roster would have immediately pointed at Kozlov...but regardless....it is a rumor about something that didn't even happen so what's the point of writing about it... SC Devs Fan
Does't look like they got much for Federov, we would have gotten less for Kozlov.
Triumph
Does't look like they got much for Federov, we would have gotten less for Kozlov. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not quite true - while Fedorov is by far the better player, his contract is prohibitively large. Odds are we would have gotten the same amount or more for Kozlov. These are strange times.
