Lets get real for a bit, honestly does anyone here think the Devils have a hot at the cup next year, knowing the way Lou conducts business? I certainly don't especially after watching how aggressive Pittsburgh played as well as Detroit.

Despite losing Scuderi, the Penguins are still the best team in the east, after that you could make the case for Boston, Carolina, or Philadelphia.

Good pick up by LA, they are really building a great defensive core there. Hickey, Johnson, Doughty, Teubert, and now Scuderi, who will help the youngsters.

No one predicted Lou to trade Sykora, but he did on a Saturday night at like 11 PM, so maybe a trade is brewing. The offseason is going just as I planned as well, I think Lou is going to see how the team does early in the season and if they struggle he'll make changes, but realistically new chemistry will likely be created.

What happens if this team misses the playoffs especially after collapsing in the last minute and a half? I know Lou does not like to sign Free Agents, because they break the core of the hockey club, but sometimes you have to change your approach and sign someone. Rolston does not count, he was once here and Holik he was a bust. Right now if they make the playoffs next year they are at best a 7th place team and get prepared for an early exit again. Simply, put this team is not good enough and will likely get blown out in games against Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and maybe even the nemesis Rangers. They might barely squeak some games against the Islanders. I am not panicking, but I am just saying that Lou needs to change somethings to make it more interesting to come to "The Rock" to watch games. I give him credit for caring about the cap unlike some GM's, but they do have room for at least one or two more signings aside from Zajac, so use that room to your advantage.

I think most of the teams are calling it a day today except for Edmonton and Ottawa in terms of that Heatley trade. I think once that is resolved a lot more dominoes should start to fall in place. Had that trade been completed, today would have been a lot busier.

I know we are desperate for a good D-Men, but I think Lou is going to probably focus on Zajac first and then pursue the UFA market as it doesn't look like Gionta or Madden are coming back. I think we need scoring and I think he will bring in 2 tier II Free Agents. Lou will be busy tomorrow I think and he knows he has to improve the team, but I expect him to wait til the trade deadline and I hope he does not bring in a Havelid type D-Man. But his primary focus is Zajac and then see what he can do with Gio or Madden, but I think he is going in a different direction.

Just glad the Rangers aren't getting him. Good trade for Ottawa, Cogliano is a great player. Penner will mesh well now that he is back with Murray, and Smid obviously also has connections with Bryan Murray, so overall a good trade for them and as for the Oilers, they will have a heavy octane offense. He will be crucial towards the development of Sam Gagner and other players.

No Surprise of him signing up in Western Canada. I expect it, but thats a hefty price for Calgary, maybe they will unload a Regehr or Phaneuf.

If Gionta stays in the east (other than the Devils), he'll likely end up in Buffalo, Toronto, Ottawa(if they trade Heatley), Montreal or Washington. In the west I see Calgary, Detroit, San Jose or Vancouver as possible fits for him.

I wouldn't mind Sjostrom on the Devils, with their track record of Swedes on the team. He would fit in nicely to replace John Madden. He's a good penalty killer, and he is good in shootouts.

It is way more popular than the MLB Draft. In terms of our Draft pick I would like to see the Devils trade up into the Top 20.

I was more hoping of someone like Simon Despres, Landon Ferraro or Kyle Palmieri.

With the Draft being in Montreal, I think it would be fitting that he announce the Devils Draft pick. I mean Alfredsson announced the Sens pick and Ovechkin the 06 draft. I think this year we have to break the David Conte tradition. Assuming he goes to the Draft.
