I was talking to a current NHLer a few days ago and he and I agreed on a few things.
1. Increasing the Nets, taking the red line out, 4 on 4, are all a joke. Why, BECAUSE THAT"S NOT HOCKEY. Hockey is 5 on 5 with the current nets, the two line pass.HOCKEY IS A CHESS GAME. HE and I agreed that that's taking away from the tradition and the game itself. You want to increase scoring in football, would you make the end zones start at the 5 yard line? How about making the fences in baseball 250 feet? I don't like any of these ideas.
2. Yea there was more scoring in the olympics, not by much number 1, and you know what. Give me 4 lines of all stars and see what happens. I've seen just as many boring international games as I have NHL.
With that being said, they need to make simple not earth shattering game changes.
1. Regulate the Goaltenders Equipment.
2. Touch up Offsides
3. Move the nets back 1 foot.
4. We thought it would be a great idea to contract 3/4 teams. We started in Florida, Calgary, Phoenix. Imgine every team grabbed a decent forward and a 5th/6th ddefenseman. The game would improve, we just couldn't up with a fair way to distribute players.
