    Hockey in Prague?

If you want to see the highest level of competition, you will certainly want to watch KHL team Lev Praha (Prague) play. They feature former Devil Petr Vrana, younger brother of former devil Karl Rachunek (who unfortunately was on the Lokomotiv flight), and a ton of former/locked-out NHLers: Jakub Voracek, Martin Skoula, Erik Christiansen, Alexander Picard, Lubos Bartecko. There are probably others, as well. Actually...I just checked the schedule, Prague is on the road during this time. They do play a home game on Nov 21. I don't know if that fits your schedule. The Czech Extraleague is suposedly not that bad, it might be somewhere near the level of a top-tier ECHL team. I haven't watched an actual Czech league game in a very long time.
  2. The Devils tied the Pens 3-3 in our first game in NJ history. Here's to 30 more successful years!!
  3. That was considered as a possibility but Lokomotiv decided to go out and build a new team altogether with a mix of NHL/KHL veterans and its own youth team.
  4. I used to be a CSKA Moscow fan because of all the excellent NHLers they produced and how often they would go the Devils. Notable Devils that played for CSKA include (and I must be missing some I can't remember them all): Fetisov Larionov Mogilny Brylin Malakhov Nemchinov Zelupukin But...after the unfortunate Lokomotiv accident I'm going to do my best and root for new-Loko.
  5. This was originally scheduled for february 30th.
  6. They will just be declared the stanley cup winner now. So it will still be 3000+ days, but with a cup
  7. Phew.... too bad nobody offer sheeted Parise!
  8. There are very few cases in which I hope that we use Sykora. But if using Barch is the alternative, I hope we sign Sykora to a max contract.
  9. Love the first clip there haha. The line of Zharkov - Mcammond - Rolston strikes again.
  10. http://www.wewantacup.com/headlines/824-3000-days-since-our-last-playoff-game Proud to be a Devils fan!!
  11. cmon guys here is a player who went 110% each and every shift he was out on the ice. There is no arguing that he played his heart out. Even when things weren't going well you could see he clearly wanted to contribute and was noticeably angry when we were losing. I'm really pleased that we were able to watch Parise play for as long as we have. He doesn't have Kovalchuk talent but he is definitely the hardest working player in the NHL and gave his all for the Devils. What more can you ask for of a player than to give everything and only leave for a chance to play at home?
  12. Over/Under to be traded: 9 months. I'll take the under.

    CBA Speculation

Salvador, 3 years. Brodeur 2 years. Hedberg 2 years. Anyone think that Lou and the other GMs know something about upcoming CBA negotiations eliminated the 35+ contract rule?
  14. goodbye sweet prince
  15. I don't understand why Brodeur and the Devils don't just go year-to-year on this one. If Brodeur plays well the Devils will want him back. Now he is forcing the team to be ready to accept a 35+ contract.
  16. Anyone remember Tyler Eckford? I thought he looked excellent in his limited time with NJ. He had some pretty good numbers in the AHL last season. I think he might be an excellent #6/7/8. He is UFA as of July 1st. Only problem is that he may count as a veteran for Albany purposes and our D depth is already pretty good.
  17. 9 years $70 mil. Leaves him at 34 years old and outside of any potential 35+ situation. the $7.77 million cap hit is very justifiable for a player of his caliber. I could see it creeping up to $75-80 mil if teams get into a bidding war.
  18. Hopefully he has someone to coach the powerplay for him.
  19. I agree with you completely that Sundin should be a first ballot Hall of Famer. He was the model of consistency at an extremely high level. But...I would rather see Pavel Bure in the Hall of Fame first. I think he was just the better play with a shorter career. Pavel Bure was playing during the same Dead Puck era and was putting up 60+ goals for many seasons.
  20. We must ensure that this player never reaches the NHL. This was the perfect way to ensure that. Lets loan him out to a 3rd division Ukrainian team.
  21. Lets bury him in the minors and make sure to ruin his development
  22. Anyone interested in the other Zharkov? He's a pretty big guy who plays a power forward game. He seemed to be invisible on a few shifts though. My scouting experience of him is roughly 3 games during WJC so take it for what it's worth.
