  1. Exactly. I've been doing Freelance Writing for years, and the only way I would be able to make a stable income off of it would be to dedicate 50-60 hours weekly to it. It's not something you can do "on the side" and expect to rake in some bacon. From my own experience, the first step to success with it is exactly what PK said -- start padding your portfolio and then start submitting query letters for some potentially lavish jobs. I've been lucky enough to write with 2ManAdvantage.com & IntenttoBlow.com over the last 5 years and believe it or not, it has helped me land a few gigs. Although, if you're looking to peruse, check out the "gigs" section of your local CraigsList site. There's usually a bunch of offers for Technical Writers or Copywriters that may not pay a whole bunch, but at least you'll get some good exposure. Keep up the hard work though!! EDIT: If he makes an appearance in this thread, speak to thelastonealive. He's a great Freelance talent who just landed a Writing job full-time. I'm sure he'd also have a few good pointers for you.
  2. Exactly. It was highly publicized that Nabokov had already signed a contract with the Red Wings. Now, bearing that in mind, it doesn't matter how great of an addition to your team you feel he could be, it's obvious he has already made a decision on his future. The respectful thing for any GM to do in that instance is just let him go through waivers and sign with Detroit. I don't think he would have reported to any of the other teams regardless of their position in the standings. Kind of a bush-league move by Snow.
  3. Definitely a test to see if the Devils are as good as they think they are. A win tonight IN "Hockeytown" would send tremors.
  4. I can't remember the last time I saw the Flyers get dominated physically like they did the last 8 minutes of that period. Impressive! Keep it up, boys!
  5. Haaa it's these kind of scenarios that are too outlandish NOT to support! I gotta tell you it would be nothing short of INSANITY if the Devils pulled that out. It's funny, I remember saying over the summer that I don't give a rat's ass about the Regular Season this year... all I want is the team to fight and claw their way into the playoffs kinda like Philly did last year and then maybe they'll actually have a sense of gratefulness about them to be at the dance. It feels like the playoffs come to easily for the Devils each year and that's probably a big reason for their lack of success in the post-season. This type of season isn't exactly what I had in mind but hey... it'd seriously be way too cool if they were to pull it off. Let the streak begin tonight!!1!@
  6. My take on the "transformation" is that if you look solely at the way the team has been playing over the last 7-8 games -- not so much the results, but the way they are playing during the games -- they are light years ahead of where they were when MacLean was behind the bench. They began to improve quite a bit with Lemaire running the show, and even more so once Langenbrunner was traded. I'm not one to point fingers at a certain individual as to why a team is playing poorly... but the difference in the on-ice products before and after MacLean and Langenbrunner is borderline shocking. If the true reason for this burger of a season was because of a sh!tty coach and a whiny captain... well, that just makes it hurt even more.
  7. I watch this show EVERY single night and have been now pretty much since its inception and I've never noticed what you're complaining about. I don't know if you're catching a different feed or something but I always see every goal in the highlights and usually from the original feed with the local play-by-play. If you're watching WHILE there are still games going on, they won't show every goal but once the "finalized" episode is complete and the re-runs start, you get every goal of every game and then some. I'll be watching a little more intently, though, to see if I can spot what you are pointing out.
  8. Beat me to it! Pretty good deal for the Rags. Trying to fill the hole left by Frolov.
  9. Back on topic... I DIED when Ovechkin said that. Hilarious. It was also pretty funny to hear all of Ovechkins jewelry rattling around thru his mic during the Winter Classic
  10. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did say something along those lines. *** Just a random thought... I'm not the best when it comes to stats -- and someone/anyone please correct me if I'm wrong -- but I think the last time the Devils hit last overall in the NHL standings was in the shortened 1995 season. We all know how that one turned around. Not saying to expect it again but it's worth a little hope.

    Devils Army

I'm glad someone made this poll... I remember sitting in the stands on opening night when this whole 'Devils Army' thing started... uber weak sauce. I don't know why but It just comes across sooo lame to me. I think it's the 'Rise Up!' tag that bothers me the most. Maybe they should just stick with 'Rise!' and they could use Boysetsfire's "After The Eulogy" as their entrance theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWF2ovWJ1P8
  12. TO-NY GOOM-BA! :clap clap clap-clap-clap!: He's the man. I'm pretty sure he sat in Section 217 at the old barn when I had season tickets the last few seasons there.
  13. So would I... just because the KLEE-FENSE chants coming from the Devils Supporters Section would be EPIC!!!
  14. Langenbrunner's comments per TG's Fire & Ice post: Ok, please forgive me, but given Jamie's whiny track record, I can't translate that any other way than Jamie blatantly calling Lou an idiot. Maybe I'm just interpreting it wrong and hopefully that is the case but I was really hoping for a better statement from the team Captain.
  15. Lots of singles available on SH for tonight. Go for it, You'll probably end up paying less than $10 for it. But hurry, they will stop selling around 4pm EST.
  16. Just a general FYI regarding tonights game... There are tons of unbelievably cheap seats left on stubhub. Most of the uppers are around $7 per seat and you can get lowers behind the goal for as low as $16. Even some 100 level seats around $10 each. Still plenty of instant download tickets too so you won't get killed on shipping. For those that didn't get a consolation email (I didn't either) this is a great option.
  17. Just an FYI: Anyone who was trying to purchase lowers for $20 from the AMI consolation and received the "You have reached your limit" message... if you log on now you are able to purchase additional. I just grabbed 2 more for my buddy and his wife. Both of whom are serving in the Army in Korea and are home for the holidays. I even managed to get them in the same section as myself and my girlfriend. Hope it's a loud building tonight!
  18. I laugh out loud every time I see that commercial. Tissue? ...Crybaby.
  19. You know, I entered this one just like I do almost all of the ticket-giveaways... I don't think I've EVER won in probably 5+ years of entering. I seriously think they see that I'm entering from Long Island, NY and say to themselves "wtf?!" ...Even though I had season tickets the last year at the Meadowlands and didn't miss a single game...including playoffs. I think I personally made EZ Pass's budget for that year!
  20. Only one thing to say to that... LET'S GO DEV-ILS!!!! :clap-clap clap-clap-clap:
  21. Bags of pucks SHOULD be what they're asking for. Then they can put them on the ice in practice and learn how to score a fvcking goal.
  22. Holy hell, Tallinder looks worse tonight than he did on opening night. He is brutal.
  23. "Cheaters." Ha. Appropriate, Marty.
