Offer sheet Nino Niederreiter to continue to build Little Switzerland in Newark. Seriously though with all the space an overpay on an RFA would make sense if GM's ever decided to use offer sheets.

I am on board with this opinion. From the outside looking in, he does seem to be great in the locker room and he is more than just that 1 big goal. He has enough GWG's, including ones in the largest games/playoffs, throughout his hockey career that it does not seem statistically ignorant to say he is someone you want on the ice in those situations. Also, he kills penalties and can score 20+ goals a year. He is one of 3 players on the roster that you can say will score 20 goals next year barring injury. If you aren't getting back someone who can score reliably score 20 + goals a year what is the point? I really don't want to see the Devils in the bottom 5 of GF again.
  3. I was saying George McPhee has a proven track record not Shero. So I would be worried that Shero would have to be out-draft-dueling a GM who was a bit of draft guru with the Caps in my opinion.
  4. I am open to a trade back for a massive haul and draft a D. If Vegas is desperate for a face of the franchise in Patrick then we could get a ton of assets for someone who normally wouldn't be a #1 pick. Use the mystique of #1 to our advantage. Only worry with that is GMGM has a very proven track record at drafting, so Shero would need to think he has hits on the picks coming back that GMGM doesn't see.

    Nico or Nolan

How many 1st rounders from Vegas would it take to move back from 1 to 6? I think they have #6, #15 (islanders), and #24 (columbus). So would #1 for #6, #15, and #24 move the needle? Would be like instead of winning the draft lottery the Devils were gifted picks #15 and#24.
  6. I like Stevens on NHL network and would think he would be an upgrade over just about every personality on Devils Radio and TV broadcasts. I mean if they could swap him in for Johnny Mac, who wouldn't take that? It would be better analysis and he could help intimidate the opposition by looking at them while being between the benches.
  7. I like to think of it as the Leafs trading a 1st to the Devils for Kurvers thinking it would be a middle/ed of the 1st pick. But instead of it leading to 1 Neidermayer (and 3 cups!) it leads to 1 top 5 pick every other year for 3 drafts (or I think even 4 drafts because this was the swap picks year)...It is likely going to change the fortunes of 2 franchises for 10 to 15 years. Celtics will be near the top and the Nets near the bottom for a generation of young fans unless the Nets luck in to a Lebron after they get to draft in the first round again starting in..... 2019
  8. Which is actually very true in the grand scheme of things.
  9. That is insane! Josefson a US Hockey Star?!
  10. hall-Zajac-Kovy Zacha-Henrique-Palms Quinneville-Patrik-Blandisi (boys are back in town line) Wood-Speers-bennett i don't think that would be all that good, but it would be fun.
  11. Is there any talk of changing the college FA system? I don't if I am just becoming more aware of it now as I search the periphery of hockey news to find any sort of hope for filling the Devils roster holes, but it really seems like that system has become the rich getting richer with top college FA's wanting to join competitive teams. Once again not sure if that has always been the case, but it will come in to focus again if the Devils lose out on Kerfoot.
  12. Trade Schneider for a 2018 1st rounder packaged with lovejoy who will act as an anchor and make the new team a bottom 5 team. End result: 2 top 5 2018 picks. Win the cup in 2020 backstopped by Jeremy Brodeur . I would say win the cup in 2019, but I think we'd need a year to gel. Just trying to be realistic.
  13. What are peoples thoughts on bringing up Quennville for some NHL experience vs letting him ride out the season/playoffs in the AHL? Also, any guys eligible that we should send down for the AHL playoffs (Zacha/santini)?
  14. Sorry. Forgot that every post is required to have "IMHO" included.
  15. As I feared might have been the case yesterday, Shero missed the market this year.
  16. Lots of moves ahead of the deadline. Shero either waiting for teams who haven't made moves to get desperate or is missing the market. Hanzal and Hansey trades are making the value of the rest of the moves look like earlier may have been better, but also could just be outliers.
  17. What would people think the estimated return could be for Cammalleri?
  18. How is the top 5 of the draft looking now? Devils are really in desperate need of some game changing young talent. Starting to feel like every team (especially middle of the pack) has impact 19-22 year olds other than the Devils. Severson is the only sure fire to fit that category.
  19. Blake Pietella is the callup. Bennett earned a few more games in the top 6 last night.
  20. I'd argue "who can watched taped games anymore?" With score alerts, twitter, facebook, accidentally opening a sports app/website and exchanging texts with friends during games it is difficult to avoid seeing live scores on games. At least for me...I'd have to lock my phone away to not have some idea of what is going on during a Devils game.
  21. Not to derail the thread, but are there any other unsigned college FA's of interest? With Vesey dominating the headlines might it be a good time to sign some under the radar type players? Don't want to put all our eggs in one Vesey.
  22. Would like to throw out the Capitals' Marcus Johansson. Can play C.
  23. Would you trade either of them? And, if so, what would you expect in return?
  24. The schedule is pretty friendly here for Shero. He will have Saturday, Sunday, Monday to work trades. Doesn't have to "keep the team together" to show they are making a playoff push over the weekend.
  25. I would definitely prefer Drouin (or another high ceiling prospect) over a first rounder, but I don't think Stempniak gets that done. I think teams will factor in that Stempniak is putting up these career outlier numbers while playing top line and power play minutes. Hope you are right. It seems like this might be a great year to be a seller.
