New York Mets 2016 Season Thread

Heh heh, priceless, hilarious.  Niese has been astoundingly bad in his last six starts (one of them was actually not terrible):

30.2 IP (pitched 6 IP just once), 49 H, 27 ER, 8 HR, 12 BB, 22 K, 1.99 WHIP, 7.92 ERA

Niese was prone to slumps here too, but this is definitely "Get him out of the rotation" bad...of course, in maddening Niese fashion, that's when he usually suddenly puts together a solid 5-6 start run.  But suffice it to say NO ONE is picking up his option this season.  He'll be a free agent, and he'll get a one-year, low cost "show me" deal.

Mets definitely don't have the finances to take a risk like that.

Oh no. Definitely not. At 32 (and possibly older) no way in hell am I giving him 5 years 9mil+. That's outrageous. If he busts we'd cripple ourselves financially. No way for a guy who's never had a major league at bat.

Colon has looked good through 4. Low pitch count too. But Hellickson has completely befuddled our offense. No Cespedes once again, though he should be available to PH if necessary. Hopefully Ces can start tomorrow

This seems like a game where we can't get the extra runs we need and Philly scores some late runs to win.

Suddenly in some trouble.  Scary mostly because of the ballpark.  Can be 3-1 before you know it.

Agree '7', get the feeling the pitching staff will be tasked with making a 1-0 lead stand.  They enjoyed that little burst, but that's been the exception lately.

Echo Keith's sentiments on Niese...was surprised that the Pirates' GM would say what he did publicly about a player.  But no way would I take him back even if it was almost for free.  The guy has almost no guts and is just not a winner.

Interesting that he lost his spot in the rotation...he was definitely pitching badly enough for that to happen.  If he was here, he probably would've gotten another month.

Nice Citizens Bank Park-aided HR for Walker.  Just hope Mets fans realize that Walker has done a fine job being Walker.

sh!t. Colon can't pull down the throw at 1st and the Phillies immediately strike with an rbi triple.

Games are never over in this friggin' joke of a bandbox.  At least the Mets scored some runs.

And here comes useless Dan Warthen.  What are you going to say that's of any consequence Dan?

Colon has gotten some rotten breaks this inning for sure.  Seeing eye bullsh!t grounder and now a bloop.

Ugh. How the fvck do you just crumble after 1 error and let this impotent Phillies lineup back into the game. 4-3 now and here comes Robles....due for a bad outing.

Not really a crumble.  The last two hits against Colon were pretty unlucky, to be fair.  Not like he started giving up line drives all over the place.

Damn this team and its inability to put the fvcking ball in play.

C'mon Neil!

Another Met surprise...praying for a walk on 3-2 and striking out.

Yes you're probably right. Honestly they probably couldve left him in for 2 more batters if not more. Terry pulling someone at 76 is very strange to see...but we're gonna need Bartolo down the stretch so maybe this was Sandy's edict not to burn him out.

Well he's basically managing this one like a playoff game.  And honestly they kind of do need to win this game after their terrible finish to the first half, Nats already have another win in the bank.

How about if we were giving them back Bastardo lol...I've seen that one floated on NYFS, we'd have to kick in money though since Bastardo has another year left on his deal (at $6.5 million at that, yuck).  But you might have to brace yourself:
