Devil Fan
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=220319&hubname=nhl TSN.ca Staff 10/10/2007 6:06:16 PM The Hockey News is reporting that the Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins will drop the puck in Prague on a compressed schedule next season. Sources have told the Hockey News that the season will be pushed back by about a week and will begin either October 9th or 10th. In order to accommodate the change, the league will further compress the schedule early in the season rather than late in the season to avoid the season running one week longer. Sources have told the Hockey News that the league has not decided what to do about the 2009-10 season when the schedule will already be further compressed to accommodate the 2010 Winter Olympics. Sources have also told THN that the league will kick off in Europe next year with two games in Prague between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators. It had previously been reported that the Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning would play those games.

squishyx
Blah, pens again? NHL should give other high market teams a chance to play these games.
Satans Hockey
I don't have a problem with having these games in Europe except for this situation. There is no reason that these games should delay the start of the season for a week and make the schedule more packed than it already is. threestars
I don't get the schedule compression thang....it pisses me off that every start of the season the Sens will have a few weeks where they play one game followed by 5-6 days off....which seems stupid to me given that by march they can play 4 in a week. squishyx
Everyone wants to see Crosby. If they chose a different team people would be wondering why they aren't trying to market their biggest star. I hear that ovenchicken guy is pretty explosive. devilsfan26
I hear that ovenchicken guy is pretty explosive. Yea I think a Caps-Pens game would be better than Senators-Pens. I don't really know why they chose Ottawa.
