DevRickus
Early Blink 182 was really good. "Dude Ranch" was a great album but it was pretty much downhill from there. My vote goes to early Blink 182, NOFX and Pennywise.
oofrostonoo
The Gaslight Anthem Against Me! njskaguy33
Dead KennedysD.O.A . . . The Subhumans THAT, my friend is punk....to truly appreicate that stuff, you need a nose ring, a pair of Dickies and a leather jacket with cloth "The Business" and "Blanks 77" patches. Well played sir... As for the original list, good luck finding "98' era" pop punk, or what I call, "frat boy punk" anymore. It's all scremo / emo / emocore or the more appropriate name "junk" right now. Your best bet, including the fine selections thus far may be... Fenix TX --> right up your alley if you dig Blink The Living End --> At least they had an upright bass... The Ataris Midtown --> Getting into emo but rocking enough Angels and Ariwaves --> Blink spinoff Boxcar Racer --> Another Blink spinoff The Transplants --> Yet another Blink spinoff...whats with those guys??? Blech, that's all I can remember from those fun filled days of Vans, chain wallets and super spikey hair. Deke's list is the real deal and Lou's covered everything I was going to add so allow me to add a few to it... Operation Ivy Choking Victim Union 13 The Pouges --> It's St Pattys day, so I had to add them. Cheers!
insanity_gallops
Satans Hockey covered most of my would-be additions to the list, as have those who posted after him. So I'll just toss in... Alkaline Trio ALL Billy Talent Descendants The Explosion Finch Lagwagon Millencolin No Use For a Name Pulley Screeching Weasel Sex Pistols (c'mon now... how's that not on the list yet?) The Suicide Machines (Destruction by Definition, most notably... and Battle Hymns) Unwritten Law (self-titled album and earlier) PS opening this topic just made my evening. stevestevens
The Mars VoltaAt The Drive In. The Mars Volta is not a punk band at all, they may have some influence but its apparent they are experimental rock. At The Drive-In, could be considered punk rock, i consider them more alternative. Relationship of Command is among the greatest albums of all time.
stevestevens
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xRDG9GKb-TM Thats The Mars Volta's newest single, Goliath, off the cd The Bedlam in Goliath. Nork
Include: UK Subs The Stranglers Killing Joke and for some good fun: The Dead Milkmen Surf Punks And, no list is complete without The Stooges. Which also includes Iggy and the Stooges. Not so much Iggy's more recent stuff. Oh yeah, I forgot Gang of Four, Fear and The Plasmatics. They consider themselves punk rock...as the Mars Volta. I did a piece on them at my work and in the interview thats what they said. And i didnt ask the ultimate dumb interview question of..."What genre are you?" They just said it. But i would call it more prog, psychodelic, rock, with some punk roots. oofrostonoo
I'd say everything went down-hill when Tom made that " experience" group that was Box Car Racer. It just made load of tension between him and Mark. He tried to make a new album just to re-gress the tension btw the two.. Didn't really work.(Tom was real stupid. He's the reason why Blink got separated) Tom just couldn't talk to Mark and Travis anymore, he had to have their Manager to speak to Mark and Travis from Tom. Plus... Tom suppose " BEST ROCK GROUP EVER" Really sucks. Angels and Airwaves.. Is like U2 copy, except.. They're 100000000000x worse. Anyway, +44's working.. But, not as popular as Blink was. I think we'll never see Blink again.. No.
TravisZajac
I think we will see them again. Tom seems to be off of drugs now (which he admitly took alot of during the end), and he said that that was a reason for him straying from them....who knows...I'd love to see them again....first concert i ever saw was them 10 years ago! i cant believe it! I have little doubts. Unless Tom's willing to excuse himself to Mark and Travis.. But that won't happen. He acts like a "GOD" now with the AvA... And.. Blink music wouldn't be the same, Tom matured, wayy too.. I find AVA too much boring.. Blink was original. Which isn't the case for either +44 or AvA.
