I guess it makes sense that a Player Assistance Program would also have the promise that you can have your job back should you successfully complete treatment, hence holding the cap space open. In the summer, that shouldn't be too big of a deal because aren't you allowed to be 10% over? No different than a guy you know is going on LTIR the day the season starts. Moving on from him because he's sabotaged your playoff two years in a row is a separate issue.

Me too. Of course, by then it didn't make a difference since Conte was just stealing a paycheck. No way we would have taken Nichuskin or Horvat. I have no proof of this but I feel like it was rumored that Conte really liked Hunter Shinkaruk. HockeyDB says he only played 15 games in the NHL, so that sounds about right.

Yeah, the accountability thing was an issue but that was more because of the inconsistency in how it was or wasn't applied. I thought our problem was more a lack of structure. Not so sure we need a hard ass to hold players accountable as much as we need someone who can convey to them where to be on the ice and what we're trying to accomplish. Too many times last season if felt like our guys were completely lost out there, especially in the defensive zone.

I hope you're right if they do in fact beat the Panthers. I think Boston was able to steal the first game because Florida hadn't played in a week.

True but I don't think Boston can beat the Rangers, so that's irrelevant. IMO Florida is our only hope for keeping the Rags out of the Stanley Cup

I have this dreadful feeling about the Rangers winning it this year. Between the Devils not performing anywhere close to expectations, all the injuries, our GM going into the witness protection program during a critical 4 month stretch of the season and the McLeod stuff, why wouldn’t this sh!tfest of a season end the worst possible way? Hopefully Tkachuk and Florida can put an end to this nightmare in the ECF.

That's disappointing. I was hoping this was more of a Larsson/DeBoer issue that the player actually sucking at professional hockey.
