MDPucks
Whose game 7 performance is worse? Devils or Capitals? You wonder... The Devils had the "Holy sh!t we were that close and blew it" but then again it was there and gone in 30 seconds. No time to really stew. Tonight is like the Hatton-Pacquiao fight except instead of a TKO in the 2nd round Pacquiao keeps beating the hell out of a lifeless Hatton for 3 hours. NJDevil1530
Whose game 7 performance is worse? Devils or Capitals? Honestly, the Caps. This is by far worse than what the Devils pulled off, at least the Devils made an effort in game 7. The Capitals haven't done jack squat tonight. NJDevs4978
If this game was in Pittsburgh I'd say the Devils...but to get embarassed like this at home, man. The Caps' D makes ours look like the '76 Canadiens. It was only a matter of time before Varlamov hit the wall with a team that doesn't even try to play D. And memo to NJ, watch tapes of Pittsburgh. THAT is how you play with a lead. You keep attacking. Edited May 14, 2009 by Hasan4978

RSC
On the bright side, we move up in the draft order because the Pens are going to the conference finals...
NJDevs4978
So, if you are at this game, what do you do for the next hour or so? Out of 17,650 people at the Rock, I'd say 12,000 would get drunk out of their minds and the others would just leave. I don't know what the hell I'd do since I don't do either. The sad part is I have a perverse interest in keeping this game on to see how bad it gets, it's car crash syndrome. Prucenterrules
I wonder if the capitals will go after a goalie like Clemmensen this offseason. Goaltending seems to be the caps weakest link.
pattyelias
So, if you are at this game, what do you do for the next hour or so? That's easy. Drink. Heavily.

RSC
So, if you are at this game, what do you do for the next hour or so? Rioting sounds fun since I can't legally drink... I wonder if the capitals will go after a goalie like Clemmensen this offseason. Goaltending seems to be the caps weakest link. Varlamov is fine. sh!t game tonight, but considering that he's played pretty well in these playoffs and he has more playoff games than regular season games thus far, Caps fans have to be excited about what a full season of experience could give this kid. maxpower
So, if you are at this game, what do you do for the next hour or so? When Game 5 last season got to 4-1, I started making my plans. If the Rags scored again, I was off to the restaurant bar upstairs. Then Salvador scored that fluke ass goal and I had to stay in my seat. Clemmensen with THAT D? My god. He might crack a 4 GAA. MDPucks
I wonder if the capitals will go after a goalie like Clemmensen this offseason. Goaltending seems to be the caps weakest link. One problem is the Capitals have been going with journeymen goaltenders like Clemmensen for the last 10 years. Kolzig was okay but more a product of gigantic pads and a terrible SE Division at the time. Huet played well for a month last year but is back to a back-up in Chicago. Varlamov is the Caps goalie for the future at only 21 and certainly shows promise. What they need is a big nasty Pronger-like defenseman, a tough defensive defenseman, a veteran forward with balls, and a pest to take the opposing team's eyes off of Ovechkin as much as possible. MDPucks
To paraphrase from the great Warner Wolf: If you had the Capitals and 5+ goals... YOU LOST!!! Caps fans pissed at the refs but really that's more frustration for the overall reffing of the series which was seriously slanted toward Pittsburgh. Tonight the Capitals, not McCreary and O'Halloran, have been their own worst enemy.
maxpower
don't recall ever seeing a PP goal that looked like that To paraphrase from the great Warner Wolf: If you had the Capitals and 5+ goals... Tonight the Capitals, not McCreary and O'Halloran, have been their own worst enemy. it was slanted toward Pittsburgh because the series was slanted towards Pittsburgh. They always have the puck and the Caps offense was off counters. what do they want the refs to do? the team that controls the puck is going to get the calls
SatansDevils
What a nightmare game this has been for Washington, Varlamov and their fans. I feel for the kid Varlamov who was outstanding in this series until this Game 7. Shame. Pittsburgh going back to the ECF unless Washington pulls off some miracle, which is not going to happen. The New Jersey losing Game 7 is worse than this one IMO. The New Jersey Game 7 loss still hurts and stings. It will for a longtime. This Game 7 for Washington is bad, but not as bad as New Jersey's. The only difference is the Washington fans were stunned and shocked early in this Game 7, where New Jersey fans were stunned and shocked at the last 80-seconds of the game. Pittsburgh 6 Washington 2 2nd Edited May 14, 2009 by SatansDevils

Pittsburgh 6 Washington 2 2nd Granted even when it comes to "pain" fans always believe their specific pain is worse than anothers. As a Devils fan I believe this Game 7 is far worse for a number of reasons. 1- Caps fans hold the Penguins in the same place Devils fans hold the Rangers. Its not just losing, its losing in a blow-out to your rival whom had a large fanbase living amongst you and have to deal with year-round. 2- After everybody thought they were DOA the Caps came-back with a thrilling Game 6 OT win on the road to set-up game 7 whereas the Devils didn't show-up in Raleigh Game 6. 3- The Devils lost in basically 30 seconds with little-to-no time to think about the truck that just hit them until everybody got home. Caps fans are basically watching a 50 minute mugging (again to their rival). 4- The hype... lets face it while Carolina-New Jersey was an exciting series it didn't capture the imagination of North America like this series has and anticipating being the victor in such a series (again to your rival) then having your team take a collective dump is brutal. Prucenterrules
I feel our game 7 hurt more because I'm a Devils fan. Yes i'm mad that the pens are going to win but I truthfully could care less because the only team I like, the Devils, are out.
