I didnt know much about coach gendron, but I feel better about ftorek starting from day one. the rats had a good mix of vets, and still sucked. I like the idea of a bunch of young pups getting it together. I love that 1st line too. I feel stupid about this question but, whats a 2 way contract?? Many folks will disagree, I think Gionta will have a short career due to his lack of size. He gets killed out there. No one will ever take that 1st line serious. I feel gomer/elias need a big guy to open up some ice like arnott did for elias/sykora. They need a power forward on their line. I think G-man is better suited to maddens line if he plays @ all. Like brylin, he plays his heart out, but in the east with cryers getting bigger, size is becomming an issue. vince

This is probably a good choice, because he's able to start from scratch this year. I think sather felt the hartford coach might have a trottier like experience. NY is no place for a rookie coach IMHO. Only thing that puzzles me is that Renney was supposedly the architech of the rangers "system" and very hands on in practice. not to be negative here, but, burns can take a 40 goal scorer & make him a 22 goal scorer. Goal scorers dont flourish in our system. But, I agree, I'd like to see if kozlov has anything to contribute. However, him sitting out games in playoffs by burns doesnt bode well. Vince

NJ is leagues ahead in development over most teams in the NHL including Avs who have never been known for bringing along defensmen like NJ has. I am not saying we should get Berry but you should give NJ's farm system the credit they derserve.

For every player a coach can motivate, there's others who "suffer" under them. Some players just dont get hte icetime to get their game. You can hate your coach, but play for your teamates. Pat is not there to be "loved" by anyone, and I'll bet some guys dislike him him. Larry was loved by most, but he's been fired a few times. Hopefully, Parise will cut his teeth in Albany see how he does in a true nhl environment. I think Kozlov has more offensive upside than hrdina for sure. Hrdina was overpaid, as was Kozlov, as was freisen, but we'll see what happens.

I think Modry is hardly a soft euro. He throws his body around. He is easily a legit 1-4 defenseman, which is sorely needed here. But Tri, what $$$ a guy signs for is never indicative of his true worth. We can go up/down rosters and see past abuses, and teams cant get rid of their overpaid players. Modry is worth about what he's being paid now. vince
