  1. I still contend that they should do a double-header at the Meadowlands or CitiField or Yankee Stadium or whatever. Devils/Isles matinee, Rangers/Bruins (or Kings, or Blackhawks, or Flyers, or whoever) in prime time. Keep all the local teams happy and double up on the money to be made. It seems too obviously good for all parties involved to actually happen, though.
  2. I know how we win this one tonight: The Maple Leafs have lost every game this season in which their opponent scored more goals than they did. So it stands to reason that all we have to do to defeat the Maple Leafs is score more goals tonight than they do. You heard it here first.
  3. I think I suggested Incarcerated Bob to Steve. Not sure why he wasn't used - maybe not enough rumor-mongering? I don't actually follow IB, so I have no idea.
  4. True, but it amuses me to no end that Єklund (2.3% accurate) wound up with lower scores than even the Insiderrp.
  5. http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2013/04/rumor_rater_how_accurate_are_n.html For those who don't know, Steve Sterling is a die-hard Devils fan, and used to blog with me at 2 Man Advantage, and helped myself and Joe (puckrock) found Intent To Blow. He's now a reporter at the Star Ledger.
  6. I feel like something NCAA basketball related makes the most sense. I don't know about the finals (aren't they usually in stadiums these days? I don't really know, don't watch it), but maybe regional finals? Or maybe something Super Bowl related? I know they've already got media day, is there anything else huge going on around Super Bowl time? The All Star Game would be cool, but next year's an Olympics year, and the year after that I imagine they still owe to Columbus.
  7. Pens fans on Twitter right now remind me of Rangers fans on Twitter last year. Someone remind me, how'd that work out for the Rangers, being mid-season Cup champions? Can't put my finger on it, but I don't think they quite made it...
  8. Not if Carolina wins their division it's not. Honestly, being in and playing well trumps whatever the seeding is, especially this year.
  9. Had to have, it was signed with a number 16. I was looking at it before I flipped it over wondering how Jacob Josefson could spell his name so poorly. For me it's been Pelley, Richard Matvichuk, and now Harri Pesonen at these mystery puck nights, while my friends usually make out pretty well - Marty, Colin White, and Daneyko.
  10. I got...Harri fvckin' Pesonen. Girl I went to the game with? Marty Brodeur. Yeah I fvckin' hate mystery puck night. Didn't think I'd "top" Rod Pelley, but there it is. The rest of my family, who went seperately from me, got all D - Tallinder, Larsson, Volchenkov, Zidlicky.
  11. I've only seen that mentioned by TG, and while he said they would be announcing it, the team never did. I wonder if anything changed, or if TG got duped or something. Then again, they don't have a promotional schedule on the website either, so who knows. Maybe they'll just do it very last minute.
  12. The way the line-shuffling has gone lately, how long can it really be before there's a Kostopolous/Loktionov/Ponikarovky line that we can call the Editor's Nightmare line? Scrabble Line? Autocorrect?
  13. LMAO. Hey, I shouldn't talk, I couldn't do it. If it makes you feel better I still loved it because of the skyline and would have been totally cool with that as the official logo as well. We're talking gradients of awesome here.
  14. Finally have a show on the docket - The National at the Mann Center in Philly June 7th. Depending on the setup, I'm either in the first or fifth row. Either way, incredible.
  15. Luck-changing-up time. I usually avoid GDTs. So let's see if posting in one pre-game helps. ...it's only weird if it doesn't work...
  16. I like it. The mock-up that was floating around for a bit with the steel hockey player (whom I still refer to as Steely Dano, thanks to Bill) and the Newark skyline looked cluttered. I think this looks much more clean while still keeping the local theme.
  17. Four posts and not a single "Oppa Gagne Style." I'm impressed. Of course, I ruined it, but I'm impressed nonetheless.
  18. He fought in the game I went to. He's a big boy. Skates just like his brother (as in...not so well). Seemed to kind of lumber around the ice. If he used his size more I think he could maybe be formidable but besides parking himself in front of Clermont on power plays, he really didn't get to phyiscal (fight notwithstanding - and he did well in the fight, but he also had a few inches and quite a bit of wingspan on the other guy). Another Devil pick was also on Trenton, Kory Nagy, but to be perfectly honest, I didn't notice him much during the game.
  19. I actually just saw Wedgewood play in Trenton yesterday. I liked what I saw, he seems like he could be a solid goalie in time. Trenton lost 4-1, he allowed 3 goals (plus an empty netter), but only one of them could he really do anything about. I don't know what his overall ceiling is, but I'd be interested to see more of him. Clermont was the goalie for the other team, also. Didn't look bad but Trenton's terrible. Only goal he allowed was on a wraparound rebound.
  20. Poni/Zajac/Kovalchuk Elias/Henrique/Clarkson Butler/Zubrus/Matteau Bernier/Gionta/Carter Feels like a really strong lineup to me. Maybe replacing Matteau with Josefson or Loktionov if he impresses in Albany, but I feel really good about this lineup once Zubrus is back, especially if Butler can start really flashing that speed and skill he showed in Ottawa on a more regular basis.
  21. WPG has apparently traded Alexei Ponikarovsky to NJD. Details to follow. @TSNBobMcKenzie
  22. Tom Gulitti‏@TGfireandice10m Devils have scheduled 8:15 p.m. conference call with Lou Lamoriello. No word on what it's about. @TSNBobMcKenzie WPG has apparently traded Alexei Ponikarovsky to NJD. Details to follow. @TGfireandice Devils give Jets 4th rd pick in 2014 and 7th rd pick in 2013. @TGfireandice Lamoriello said Zubrus will have exploratory surgery on his wrist tomorrow. Could miss anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks.
  23. It looks farther than it is. The lot I usually use is on the same cross street, though on Mulberry instead of across McCarter Highway.
  24. http://www.nj.com/essex/index.ssf/2013/02/devils_fan_18_struck_and_kille.html#incart_river_default My mother works as a dispatcher in Newark and texted me around midnight this morning to make sure it wasn't myself/my brother/friends. Really sad.
