It's certainly a difficult situation, and you do have to feel for the Atlanta fans. I personally think that the Thrashers could become financially profitable if the team were consistently competitive, but if what they are saying is true, and NO ONE wants to buy the team, then there really is no choice. Winnipeg is the only option that makes sense right now.

This is the best idea in my mind: NJ/NYR/NYI/PHI/PIT MTL/TOR/BUF/BOS/OTT WSH/CAR/TB/FLA/NSH DET/CBS/CHI/STL/DAL MIN/CGY/EDM/VAN/WIN PHX/LA/ANA/SJ/COL Keeps the most rivalries within divisions and makes most geographic sense to me.

I wouldn't mind Jagr... but not at the money that they are talking about. The guy can still play but on a one year contract with our current cap situation, I'd take him at max 3 mil.

I will be pissed if we lose today... Getting swept by Boston is not an option.

Yeah, the Nets Brooklyn arena will NOT be able to support NHL hockey full time due to its smaller seating bowl, which would make awful sight-lines for hockey. Anyway, good for the Islanders to finally make it this far. Now its time to see if the public is willing to pay for it.

What do you guys think of the talk of adding another playoff team in each league? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6404094 I personally like it, as long as it stops there. One of the things I love about how much of an accomplishment it is just to make the playoffs. But, at the same time I recognize how this gives more teams something to play for in September.

The only American markets that I could see supporting a new NHL team would probably be Kansas City, Portland, Seattle, Milwaukee, or maybe Salt Lake City. The problem with them is that none of them have the magic combination of owner and arena that gets you teams. Right now, Winnipeg is the only city in either US or Canada that has that.
