squishyx
in the time that friesen has been here i dont think he has done enough, certainly not enough to compare to sykora... i would take him back for friesen in a heartbeat
Guest Devsrule
Yes I honestly would too but Lou would probably not. Redrum if you want to trade friesen so bad, do you have a deal in mind? Just wondering because if lou were to trade him who would you want in return?
sundstrom
while i was also upset with langenbrunner, he gets a small pass because of his knee injury. he was great before that. and madden still played Selke type defense. Freisen, especially at $3M, is expendable.
squishyx
langenbrunner needs to play better or we should ship him off too, madden isnt really on the team to be a goal scorer just like sundstrom said. we should get rid of friesen, hrdina, kozlov people cuz i dont think we have any room on the roster for the rookies. plus it would free up loads of cash that i dont think we have
Guest Devsrule
langenbrunner needs to play better or we should ship him NO WAY. Even though langs did not perform offensivley this season, he still brings a lot more to the game. Hrdina and Kozlov were wastes. I dont know what lou was thinking. They dont seem to be devil type players. We saw that in the playoffs when Kozlov was scratched and Hrdina had been on Burns' shet list. Parise will replace one of them most likely. I've got Hrdina down for 15 goals this season and solid all around play and Kozlov down for a quiet 20-25 goals. -Scott
squishyx
your being to generous, i would love it if these players thrived here.. but i dont think they will. NJ is the place where offenceive minded players come to die. we make pretty good two-way players tho....

Well I expect Hrdina to see spot PP time and play in almost every game this coming year and Kozlov has all the skills in the world so with a winning team it may help him chip in a little more than when he wasn't winning. So 15 for Hrdina I feel is a definite and Kozlov could range anywhere from 10-35. -Scott

Too bad none of them found their scoring touch when traded to NJ. I get your general point, but it goes both ways.

This past year, Elias was the go-to guy. Clearly. Defenses keyed in on him. And all he did was end up within an arm's reach of the Richard trophy and reassert himself as a topline LW. Now think about what kind of a season he would have if defenses could be spread to cover other lines, as well. And besides, there really was no "secret" about Elias within the league. The players, coaches, scouts, etc., all have known he's a big-time player for a few years now. This past season just showed he was able to shoulder the load more, take it upon himself to create offense and lead by example. But yes, I agree with you that he does need help. insanity_gallops
Hrdina and Kozlov were wastes. Writing them off already? I dont know what lou was thinking. Well, let's see. Big, right-handed, playmaking center with unquestionable talent, but questionable work ethic (the second coming of Jason Arnott?)... and a workaholic crafty, smart center who fares well on draws and is a true team player. Yeah, I don't know what he was thinking either. We saw that in the playoffs when Kozlov was scratched and Hrdina had been on Burns' shet list. Kozlov was coming off of a concussion, and I'm betting he wasn't 100%. You were quick to defend Langenbrunner and his lack of production - were you feeling the same way after his terrible '01-'02 playoffs? He wasn't at full strength then... think about how well he rebounded the next year. It's possible for Kozlov to take a similar path; I think he deserves a shot. Hrdina was in Burns' doghouse, yes. But so was Gomez. Plus, he still managed to post 7 points in 13 games with the Devils in the regular season, and scored two goals in the first round. ...and suddenly I'm taking on the roll of public defender. squishyx
elias was the "goto" guy this year, and every team knew it but i think he will draw more attention next year. this was probibly his biggest year,i know, i know, he scored 96 pts a few years back but he did that when he HAD alot of help. i really dont think he has been that big of a threat to other teams until this year, and im betting they will really key in on him next. sheeps
No, it's cool for you to think that... you understand the Devils and Gomez... ...but for a non-Devils source to say this? I mean, if you understand the intricacies of the Devils, I can see why you would like Gomez as cap, but I don't think these reasons would be apparent to a non-Devils source at all. MissionHockey
I realize Ana has no interest in getting him back ( another reason why NJ should dump him).If Freeze was such a hard worker wouldn;t he be more of a defensive pressence??? If the guy is not scoring you donot even know he's on the ice... We donot need 1 dimensional players and thats what freeze is... You don't just become a defensive presence, Friesen isn't Jere Lehtinen. He will never be great defensively, your asking too much IMO. Its like asking Gomez to take Maddens job if he isn't scoring. However I do think he works hard. Have you ever seen him not skate hard to the puck? Not backcheck? Every team knew that Patrik is the Devil's most offensively gifted forward before this year and there was no doubt there were focusing their defensive efforts on him. Nature's Minister
I like Hrdina. A lot. And I think he can make a pretty noticable contribution to the team next year if he isn't park of a package deal. Like, maybe not being on a crappy team will make him play more like he did in Pittsburgh. Also, I'd rather have Arnott than Kozlov. redruM
Dr... its obvious you post alot, but do you read other posts?? I pretty much get on every devil at one time or another.... I ride madden for his horrible offensive game planty this year, he gets more breakaways then any players int he league... drives me mad... difference is scoring or not his presence on the ice is always felt.... Same w/ Langer.... Not true for freeze... if he is not scoring he's useless... which is most of th etime.... And I'm sorry but skating hard ont he off zon eis not enough how about getting your ass back on "D" after you cough up the puck.... too much too ask??? GET RID OF THE BUM!!! As for what I want in return??? WHat the hell can we get at this point"?" not much.... get me a 2nd round pick and I'll be over joyed....
