What are Blandisi's chances in the AHL and eventually NHL?

I don't doubt that he can become a really solid AHL player. I think he'll get some looks in the NHL eventually but it will come down to him taking advantage of the opportunity. I think best case scenario is him being a decent third line guy that can chip in some offensive here and there. Though with a player like this, your more likely to end up with a Michael Swift or Brad Snetsinger than a David Clarkson.

Pts/GP is a very basic way to compare prospects that I like to use as a general baseline. Of course it's not everything, not even close. If you're interested, I compared Blandisi's Pts/GP, season by season based on age, against the Devils OHL free agent signings, and then OHL F draft picks from the last few years, excluding the most recent drafts.

Overall he outperformed Snetsinger and Clarkson, had similar age 17 and 18 seasons with Swift, was a bit behind Swift's age 19 year, but ahead of Swift's age 20 season.

In terms of drafted guys, he beat out Kory Nagy every season. His age 17 and 18 seasons trailed Nick Palmieri, Matt Halischuk, and Adam Henrique. He was slightly ahead of Reid Boucher's age 18 season. His age 19 year beat out Nick Palmieri but trailed everyone else and none of those guys played an age 20 (overrage) season in juniors like Blandisi is now.

-- Seems I've seen him play more than any other prospect this season. Once again on the top pair, 1st PP (only D with 4 F's), and top PK. Announcer mentioned early on that he's had some games of around 25 minutes a night. Wouldn't surprise me if this was true. His penalty last night did lead to a PSU goal but other than that he was solid all around.

If we can graduate another one or two defenseman in the next couple years, it'll be a real strength of the team and Lou will definitely have the flexibility to trade someone, possibly even a top 4 guy like Merrill, especially if Santini is all he's cracked up to be nectar that's the type of guy we're really missing right now that Fayne and Volchenkov aren't here.

Quenneville's season keeps becoming more and more disappointing. I'm losing hope in his chances of making the NHL, much less as the center I thought he could be.

At this point, I'm convinced there's something going on with Quenneville, something like a nagging injury that won't go away. Since I've been following draft prospects, it has been rather rare to see a player who puts up ~1 p/g in his draft year follow that up with a substantially worse season. Taking a look at his playoffs stats from last season also raises suspicion of something strange happening. Maybe Conte and co are not what they once were anymore, but those guys were super high on Quenneville (they would have taken him way higher), and I'd be surprised if they were so wrong about him. With that being said, it really sucks to see Barbashev continuing to do well when we could have had him at 30.

 

Also, look at what Provorov has done this season (same team as Quenneville). I know we need forwards, but if Strome, Marner, and Zacha are gone, this guy may be worth taking.

I think I might just have a complete breakdown if we don't draft high enough to grab one of the high quality centers at the top of the draft. That being said Zacha concerns me due to him only having played 26 games in the OHL this year due to 3 suspensions I think? I know he's one of the younger guys in the draft though, not turning 18 until April this year.

From Boucher to Matteau, Kujawinski horrible year, Quenneville's down season, Santini's injury, even Myles Bell disappointing ECHL season, the Devils prospects have been as disappointing as the team itself.

If and when Lou steps down or is told to pack his bags, I believe Conte needs to go as well. it's his job to to assess his individual scouts ability to view players and to be honest, NJ has drafted terrible in the USA, Sweden, Russia, Do we even have scouts in Czech Republic or Slovakia, Quebec. They have been average in Ontario and Western Canada.

Can someone tell an ignorant fool like myself what the deal with this guy Trevor Cox is? Is he too small to make it or what? Him and Cole Sanford. They are lighting sh!t up.

They'll be on the NHL Network at 3 PM on Sunday when Medicine Hat takes on Edmonton, which has Baddock. I haven't seen them play so I'll keep an eye on them. Just glancing at their profiles, they both seem really small, Sanford 5'8, 165, Cox 5'8, 164. That's smaller than Tyler Johnson 5'9, 182 who definitely seems like the exception when it comes to undersized guys going undrafted and making it. Both Sanford and Cox are still draft eligible though.

The 2013 Hockey Prospect Blackbook had some info on Cox. Obviously it's bit dated at this point but it's something:

 

Cox is a quick playmaker who generates offense off the half wall. Despite his size, Cox is not afraid to go to the net and try to score dirty goals. His size is a detriment to his play along the walls and in the slot, but he fights through it and does not allow it to stop him from working hard and trying to create offense. Cox is quick with the puck in the neutral zone, and is able to push opponents back into their own zone. Defensively, Cox is far too easy to play against. His back check is terrible, and he does not put enough effort into his own zone. He has a lot of improvements to make in his game, especially with his lack of size, to ever play as a professional.

Agreed. Though I will say that while Chatham isn't much to get excited about, at least he's doing better than I expected. Jacobs is one of the few bright spots in my opinion. He's playing a lot as a freshman in all situations for a bad team and doing well. He looks like he can actually develop into a NHL D one day.
