2022 New York Mets season thread

Game #25 and the Mets have now been hit TWENTY-TWO fvckING TIMES by pitches.  Insane...

A little smallball in the first inning...made Morton work, to the tune of 34 pitches.  Hopefully the offense doesn't die in this game.

Peterson over 40 pitches through two innings...this might turn into a bullpen game in a hurry.

Feels like the Mets aren't doing quite enough damage against Morton, despite scoring four runs...Morton now up to 56 pitches through his two innings.

5-1. How about not blowing this damn game

Of course the Braves make it 5-4, and of course the Mets go down meekly in their half of the inning.

Well this 100% had the feel of a loss in the making…except the bullpen flat-out refused to follow the script.  Hell of a job by all three of them today.

Lindor’s bat has really disappeared over his last 8 GP.  Really hope he’s not reverting to last year’s form.

Nice hit by Dom there to drive in a pair.

Wow.

Serious kudos to this team today.  The Mets of the past would’ve saw this team find a way to lose Game 1 (after a painful loss last night) and would’ve seen the Braves start to get on a roll.  Instead they’ve managed to shake last night off completely.  And the Braves are back to trying to get something going again.  Amazing what can happen when a REAL manager is in charge.

And loved Max getting on the ump and getting tossed.  Guy brings a certain intensity that is infectious.

Oh, and another bonus…this should instantly squelch any “See the Mets need Cano in the clubhouse!” nonsense.

Damn Carrasco really went eight shutout innings?  All credit to him for rebounding this year after it looked like he was breaking down in 2021.

Also for rebounding from his last start.  Can’t do that any better than he just did.

Lindor with a .372 OPS over his last 9 GP.  That’s as bad as it gets.

Yesterday was a statement day. Coming off a rotten loss, the Mets absolutely snuffed the Braves offense out and asserted themselves as the best team in the NL East. When you have that kind of effort from the normally sketchy Carrasco...you have to be happy.

Still would like to see more out of the offense, but offenses everywhere are pretty depressed.

Only 5 hits in his last 36 at bats. And just a single walk in that stretch too. He needs to pull out of it and fast before the narrative that the hot start was just a fluke and he's going to go the way of Alomar, Baerga etc begins

Yeah he's just about used up the "off to a good start" cushion that his earlier numbers afforded him...people are going to start to catch on that his current overall season stats are not so good now.  He needs to get hot soon.

What's scary is that the Met offense overall is one of the most productive ones out there at the moment.  Only four teams are batting .250 or better at the moment (Mets are second in team BA entering today, at .257).  Gives you an idea what it's like watching many of the other teams right now, in a league batting .232 overall (down 12 points from last year's .244).

BTW Megill (over two starts) has not allowed a hit in his last 8 IP.  Well done.

Well that's the bad part of Ottavino's game...he will walk guys, always has...not sure if he's the best choice to go to with the bases loaded.  And I get the feeling with Ottavino, he can be really good or really bad.  Didn't have it today.

One of those games that just got away from the Mets in a hurry.  Oh well...at least they can't do any worse than a split.  7-0-1 over their first 8 series and an 18-9 record...we were all signing up for that going in.

Woof looks like Ottavino just assured a split, oh well

Yeah in some ways he's going to be Familia-like.  Never know exactly what you're going to get from him any given day...his main issue is that he's not nearly the hit suppressor he once was.  He can strike out the side on a good day, but most of the time he's giving up a lot of baserunners...his WHIP since the start of 2019 coming into today's game was 1.401.  That's a guy who has busy basepaths around him.

Lindor down to .245...starting to feel like his hot start was indeed a mirage.  Man I hope not.

Mets had their chance to start to get back into this thing, but Guillorme struck out.

Trevor Williams is clearly the sacrificial lamb today.  First real blowout loss this season for the Mets IIRC.  Oh well, shake it off, take the split, that's that.

And it looks like Lindor is going to go hitless for this series.  You're still on probation here pal...last year is still plenty fresh in our memories.

In Scherzers last 18 regular season starts, his team is 18-0.

In his last 15 regular season games where he got a win or loss decision...15-0

God I hope I didn't jinx him or the team. But Scherzers last regular season loss was May 30th, 2021

Doesn’t help when you make critical fielding mistakes either…

Yeah he’s making his way right back onto the sh!tlist isn’t he?

Can’t say I have any great faith in Walker either…don’t see him sticking in the rotation.

One of those “no show” nights.  Not like this team won’t ever slump.

Rough couple of games…sheesh.  Would be nice if Mr. Moneybags ever got another hit.

Finally…geez
