devilsfan26
Anybody know why Ovechkin has a mirrored visor? What's up with that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Probably just wants to look cool. I think he looks more like Robocop or something.
Derek21
Just a correction on Vrana. He had two goals and an assist as did Olesz.
Derek21
There are two games on the schedule for today: Pool A: Switzerland (0-0-0) vs Belarus (0-1-0)- 6 PM Pool B: Sweden (0-0-0) vs Germany (0-1-0)- 6 PM Edited December 26, 2004 by Derek21
David Puddy
Al was off the first two periods. I'd say two of the four were bad goals. The blast from the point and the Ovechkin sharp angle goal. The other two I had no problem with. One was a penalty shot which the guy hit the short side. The other was a tip-in on another blown coverage. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The penalty shot was a bad goal. He backed up too far and lost that net coverage. The other one wasn't weak, though. He was letting out a lot of dangerous rebounds.
MissionHockey
Montoya helped save the US in the 3rd. It looked like he was nervous in the first two periods and then calmed down in the 3rd. He began controlling rebounds rather than letting harmless shots bounce in front of him like earlier in the game. Ovechkin and Malkin are good. Ovechkin is just scary fast, maybe that goal he had was a soft goal, but the fact that he could basicly beat the whole US team on that rush was a thing a beauty. Malkin dominated play for a period of time, just never got the pay off.
bruins4777
Montoya showing potential. No Suprise once again. Anyways, good to know suter played pretty good. I'd like to see more from radulov. Edited December 26, 2004 by bruins4777

The other one wasn't weak, though. He was letting out a lot of dangerous rebounds. It's hard to call a penalty shot a bad goal. I mean cmon. He was forced to stop the same guy twice. And the guy made a nice shot just inside the post. His rebound control was an issue most of the night. What I liked most though was when Russia got the chances they did in the third, he held the forte and won the game for his team. The D will obviously need to play better in the future. And Al will need to play like he did in the 3rd to have a chance to repeat. I really liked Kessel. Everyone raves about him and some claim, "he's the most talented American prospect since Modano." He's not draft eligible until 2006. He looks like a player. My boy Hensick didn't get much ice-time. He was basically on the fourth line and didn't do a lot. Like to see him play more. Ditto for "power play specialist" Schremp.

The only reason it was soft is because Montoya should've been in position to stop it.

And the guy made a nice shot just inside the post. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's a bad goal because he didn't play it well. If he's 2 feet farther forward and gets beat on a similar shot, it's not a bad goal in that situation, it's a good shot.

Jas0nMacIsaac
O suprise game for vrana, i need to look this kid up. Good to know olesz scored a goal. I'm sure he was matched up agaisnt kostisyn. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hardly a suprise game. Vrana was on the CHL allrookie team in 2002-03, was QMJHL rookie of the year that same year. Redline ranking had Petr Vrana as the 10th best forward in the 2003 NHL draft and 16th overall in the draft. He was also part of the most dangerous junior line in Czech history. Vojtech Polak, Petr Vrana and Ivo Kratena formed a line that dominated under 16 tourney. They were called "The Great Line" The one bad thing is Vrana is a hardcore Rangers fan
Jas0nMacIsaac
Some articles on Vrana: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=4629 http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=3370 Recaps on under 16 team http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=1664 http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=3890 Read some of the names.....some are big time prospects now Vrana leads the World Challenge which is now known as the under 17 tourney which is a huge tourney for draft elligible prospects. Don
Wow. The refereeing is nuts. Canada has been down 5 men to 3 three times already. Taps and pushes being called all over the place.... If this is what "calling all of the interference" looks likes, maybe I prefer the clutching and grabbing. A D-man uses his glove to push the man standing in front of the net and he gets called for interference. We even had a 3rd penalty called on us on one of those 5-3's. Good thing the rules don't allow 5 on 2 hockey. Despite the referring, we've been dominating pretty much. Up 5-1, I'm now watching a movie I got for Christmas.....
