Terreri31
Just a thought but what about head coach Scott Stevens. He's well respected among the players. He has that attitude and passion He's strong enough to but heads with Lou. Andddd he wants to win and will take nothing less
devils26
He would do a great job of getting the guys motivated but I don't think it would ever happen though; at least not in the near future. Edited May 9, 2007 by devils26
thefiestygoat
I can see him becoming an assistant coach when his kids are older. I don't have any articles to cite, but I think he has said he wants to be with his family for a while before and IF he gets back into hockey. TravisZajac
As a head coach..Nah.. Assistant coach? Why not?
peteyvegas
If he has an offensive scheme, I'm for him. If he makes the opposition match US, instead of us matching them, I'm for him. If he wants to play hockey like we played it when he was there--I'm all for it. But if he wants to play like Julien and Lou, it'll be more of the same. SatansDevils
Stevens had been asked several times by the media if he would like to coach and he said "someday" it would be nice to do that but for right now he is enjoying his time with his family. Stevens I can see on the Devils bench in the future as an assistant for the defense or possibly Daneyko.
GOLDJR41
Lou would never just throw Scotty into the head coaching position right away. Stevens would have to earn his stripes as an assistant for a couple of years before becoming the head coach of any team, like what Johnny Mac is doing now. You can't expect Stevens to be thrown directly into the fire (literally ) On that note though, IN LOU WE TRUST!

msweet
Son in 10th grade at Delbarton. I'm guessing nada until college. Shouldn't he be assistant coach first?

Pepperkorn
Hey it's the offseason for both of us now! But even you have to admit that Scott Stevens would have a hard time adjusting to the new "no touch" NHL.

mikepopowich
i'm all for it, would be great to see scotty behind the bench, sure would be a motivator, but i agree, assistant first would make more sense. and i'd like to see lou try to fire him. Pepperkorn
not assistant coach... defense coach maybe? He's not a good fit to come up through the ranks with the Devils -- he could only assist someone like Burns. Asst MacLean? .. HA! I got a big oil painting of that. It's just a personality thing... he'll either sit back too much or bowl over someone - neither of which is appropriate for an asst. I think it'll be tough for Scotty to break into coaching successfully.
